thats fucking ridiculous... Americans are constantly complaining about gas prices when the U.S. gets the CHEAPEST gas in world next to the OPEC countries. Go anywhere else, europe gas is about $8-$9 US dollars per gallon same with anywhere... no one else complains but Americans who refuse to ride public transport or buy hybrid and economy cars.... yeah the government taxes it, yeah some of it has to do with katrina but none the less you get the cheapest gas in the world(besides OPEC nations) so shut the fuck up and be happy like most people would. the end.
I agree that prices are higher in other places, but you should keep in mind that most areas in the US have very shitty transportation systems. Most of europe on the other hand actually has a much better system.
Also, you're statement about the US having the cheapest gas besides the OPEC countries is false.
OPEC consists of Algeria, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela.
According to CNN:
AUSTRALIA $2.63
CAMBODIA $2.57
TAIWAN $2.47
GEORGIA $2.31
LAOS $1.66
THAILAND $1.60
CHINA $1.54
CHINA $1.48
RUSSIA $1.45
KAZAKHSTAN $1.36
KAZAKHSTAN $1.35
TAJIKISTAN $1.32
AZERBAIJAN $1.15
And that's only a partial list, CNN didnt offer all countries.
The highest gas prices are in Europe (mostly northern europe) and that's due to very high gas taxes (fuel tax) that goes straight to the government. The have these high taxes to try to force reduced traffic, pollution, more fuel efficient cars, etc. If it wasn’t for the tax implemented by these governments, they would be paying the same or less than what we pay.
