wow.... once the GAME drops, people are gonna be sayin hes tight though cuz hes on Aftermath... just like 50... id rather be rich than broke in ANY circumstance, but thats just me.
Your speaking on sheep..."Oh, he must be tight, he's on __________" If they can't differentiate from a CD they're going to be hyped on for 2 weeks, and then never listen to again, and a classic that they'll throw on in a year from now, that's their thing...I'm more about music, I don't get off on soundscan, I get off on tight beats and lyrics...and I been broke long enough to know that I can keep being broke and still maintain without having to jump on the first persons dick who throws money at me.

l-macs got a point..

yall act like money's everything. like if you get a few stacks, you're just a made man, huh?

when Im listening to music, Im not thinkin "damn, this guy must be popular. it has so much mainstream appeal. I bet he sells a LOT of records". who gives a fuck how many albums someone sells. are any of YOU seeing a dime of those profits? no? then why would you give a fuck. In my opinion, three of the best albums of alltime probably didnt even sell over 500,000 copies (no secrets no lies, season of da siccness, headz or tailz)..

I mean, ying yang twins sell a lot of records... but they got about as much musical talent as my left testicle.

being rich wont do nothin but give you more problems.

Exactly , im speaking on sheep, and so do major record labels... 90% of the people who buy music are sheep. Thats why all these dudes go to majors, to get that money. And lets be realistic.. if you were a rapper, selling out of the trunk or independant, hustling on the side to make some xtra money, and a major like Aftermath came at you throwin money, you would take it. If not your a damn fool for not wanting to better yourself AND your family, for the sake of "keeping it real"

Believe me, I feel what you're saying...but it's not about keeping it real, it's about keeping it yours...if you sign to that deal, you are stepping into a whole different arena, where you have no power...and say you are out the trunk, and you built a decent following over the years, that has kept you fed...I say do like 40, Short, and P and keep it indy...that way if you blow up, you blow up off your own merits, and it's all yours in the end...majors are not what they are cracked up to be...they're loan officers with ridiculous interest...and if your next album flops...peace, you are now damaged goods, and you can't go back to indy, cause all your loyals think you sold out...it's a cold game.
edit: Record labels feed off the fact that artists are starving...that's why they get away with robbery by giving these bootsy ass deals...I look at it like, "you been broke this long, might as well wait for the correct deal."...They see it as, "We give this broke MFer X amount up front, give them a small taste of the royalties, and then expect them to pay mad points on the fronted money...it's stupid...might as well stay out of the trunk, and keep all that money per unit for yourself.

^^ No way that shit went double platinum, probably sold around gold. Yuk isn't that major
doubt it even went gold... however, while Game is banking about 75 cent an album, Yuk makes 7 bucks on the retail.. so it dont really matter who sells more, yuks gonna always have more cheese than game's commercial ass.
