Click on iTunes – Edit – Preferences and click the Playback tab. Then move the Smart shuffle slider to more likely, less likely, or somewhere in between.

Ive had this problem too and I realized that when I shuffle a playlist, it is much more random than just shuffling the ipod all together. So I made a playlist and dragged all the songs in my ipod to the playlist and play that on random... see if this works for you guys.

the random function in iTunes is fuckin weird. it has a slider bar to adjust how random it is, from less of the same artists to more of the same artists. i dont see how that can possibly happen if its really random. i think part of the problem is in having a computer create a random number, its really not random its from an algorithm
