COME ON....METALLICA/CARLOS SANTANA/AFI/GREEN DAY/AND I KNOW THERES A BUNCH MORE....OH AND LES CLAY POOL FROM PRIMUS IS FROM PINOLE.....DUDE THAT DOES THE SOUTH PARK INTRO.
Jimi Hendrix > Carlos Santana
Nirvana > Metallica
Alice In Chains > Green Day
Etc,etc...
...and come on there is a ton more from Washington that I'm not even naming. I'd be here all day if I named all the big to moderate "successful" bands
FROM Washington. I'm not saying the San Francisco Bay Area doesn't have a thriving/great rock scene both past and present. It would be stupid for me to say that. Washington (namely Seattle) has just had a bigger and better one.
All City tried to come with the whole San Francisco/Berkeley rock "heyday" thing but that's where the hippies were located not
WHERE most of the bands they listened too came from. The only ones I know off the top of my head from the "Hippy Movement" that are from the Bay Area are Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and I guess to an extent Carlos Santana. Most of the "heyday" bands that the hippies listened to where from all over the US/World. By this I'm not saying that the whole San Francisco/Berkeley "Hippy Movement" wasn't monumental because it was...but most of the bands weren't
FROM there is what I am getting at.
Les Claypool is an amazing bassist by the way.
