The way I look @ a mixtape is the same way I look @ a cypher or a battle..a way to prove yourself. Also I feel like albums are structured and need to be made in a certain format. With mixtapes you can be free and put maybe even some of your less creative or throw aways out to the public. Mixtapes are usually free anyways, so what are you bitchin about? Haha you can snag a free download or wait for an official album to drop. Just my two cents

But why do niccas like Messy Marv and Yukmouth put out mixtapes in record stores? They dont gotta prove shyt they already have a name.That shit is actually illegal and if they moved enough units they would have to pay for the producers/artists published material they are putting out in stores.Especially when niccas actually try 2 fool the public and put "Featuring Lil Wayne and Keyshia Cole" knowing all they did was sample the artists vocals.Fukk the mixtape either put out a album or let ppl download some original shyt for free.

i agree,i couldnt have explained it any better than that....98% of mixtapes is pure garbage and if u a up & comin rapper with a mixtape,that just gives me a reason 2 not wanna listen to your music unless u got a real album with all original beatz.
