Do what you love though...

InfamousICON @InfamousICON what do you think you get from film school, that you couldn't do on your own tweaking with video editing programs, and camera's on your own?

Sort of how I felt about sound engineering school programs, I never saw a point in paying for something you can learn from trial and error, and google resources.
I already got a few things just from one semester so far. First thing was scriptwriting, having somebody who has actually sold scripts and made his own movies teach me the proper ways to construct a script from the ground up has helped a lot, he taught stuff I could have never learned from a "how to" book.

Another big thing I learned about was lighting, I could have never learned about that stuff on my own, lighting in itself is an art form.

The documentary portion of last semester helped a lot also, I would have never known how to properly put together a documentary without that class.

Later when I start making full student films it will be great to get that experience of actually directing with a free crew and professionals there to help and guide in the right direction.

So did u apply for the job in Wyoming? Or u know someone there?
I got some family members there.

My dad just became a foreman of the heavy maintenance crew there after being there for 6 years and his brother is a foreman on one of the other crews there.

My dad told me yesterday if I want a job it's mine, he's contacting the HR department to see the next hiring cycle.

Maybe its meeting like minded people you can network with.
That's another great aspect of film school.

Two of my teachers last semester (who both still work in the industry, teaching is basically a side gig) both went to film school together and ended up here together last year lol anyway they both went to film school with Danny McBride and Jody Hill. Danny McBride and Jody Hill work on almost all of each others projects to this day and Jody Hill just got work for one my teachers to edit a project for him.

If I ever became a big time film maker and was hiring a crew and someone I know from film school came across my desk and I knew they did good work they'd be hired on the spot. From what i've been hearing that's how a lot of work goes out, it's basically all people you know and have networked with.

It would be cool for awhile, I think. No traffic, you probably get a whole big plot of land for yourself. You can bbq, drink outside, shoot off whatever guns you want. It would be huge pressure release not to have people EVERYWHERE.
You wake up, step out onto the porch and its all like...
