I like how "maybe I should drop maybe $500 tops on decent sound for the tv / pc" turned into just the fucking A/V receiver costing about that much itself lol. Ranging in the $1200-2400 range and they're not even full surround set ups just pieced together 3.0 or 2.1 or 3.1 stereo setups (granted they'd sound far better than any shitty boxed set of multiple tiny speakers or some shitty bose soundbar)
Audio is expensive. At least if i do it right it'll be a 5+ year investment. I dropped nearly 2k on this tv 4+ years and it still looks better than anything i see in the stores or even brand new tv's like some 65" 4k tv my friends brother bought that loojs like absolute ass; super bright screen (like even if ppl are in a dim room you can see shit that you shouldn't be able to see), splotchy shadows horrible contrast horrible cold blueish coloring just absolutely fucking awful even with great source content
