Reviews #1,000
This is Michael Mixerr. This is Michael Mixerr. Actually, this is Jose Mixerr, writing for Michael Mixerr's Mixerr Reviews in an autistic person's point of view. Today I will be reviewing New Orleans rapper Juvenile's solo album titled 400 Degreez.
400 Degreez was recorded and released in 1998 under Cash Money Records. 18 tracks were laced with Juvenile's rugged lyrics as well as funky beats made by producer extraordinaire Mannie Fresh. The album became not only Juvenile's best-selling album of his career, but also Cash Money's best-selling album of all time.
Juvenile first gained mainstream attention with his first single, titled "Ha." The song gave listeners an idea of how life was like in New Orleans' Magnolia Projects, where Juvenile was from. The video gave the world an idea of how people lived in the Nolia. Two remixes appear on 400 Degreez; one featuring the Hot Boys and another featuring New York rapper Jay-Z.
The second single featuring Mannie Fresh and fellow Hot Boy Lil Wayne, "Back That Azz Up" is a classic twerking anthem. It's almost guaranteed that any thot will shake what her mom gave her when the intro to this song starts playing! In this song, Juvenile invites women to shake their buttocks. The video also features hundreds of hoodrats in booty shorts and mini skirts making their butt cheeks bounce all over the place! We all know sex sells, which could be the reason why this was the more successful song between the two singles that Juvenile released.
It's no surprise that "Ha" and "Back That Azz Up" became Southern rap classics. Both songs made their way onto the charts, with "Ha" topping out at #68 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Back That Azz Up" at #19. 400 Degreez made its way onto Billboard's Top R&B/Hip Hop albums and peaked at #2 on the list.
Exotic cars, diamond encrusted jewelry, as well as other luxuries are what Juvenile and the Cash Money Millionaires raps about flaunting on tracks like "Flossin Season" featuring the Big Tymers, Lil Wayne and BG, as well as "Rich Niggaz" featuring Turk, Lil Wayne, Mannie Fresh and Papareu.
"Welcome 2 Tha Nolia" featuring Turk and "U.P.T." featuring the Big Tymers and BG are songs that tell tales about the dangers of crime-ridden Uptown New Orleans where people get their wig split often! Despite the fact that New Orleans continuously has a very high homicide rate, you can tell that on these songs that Juvenile is proud to be from where he's from.
It's no secret that this album was as successful as it was. You can't skip a track on this classic album. 400 Degreez has as much heat as a million boxes of spicy fried chicken from Popeye's! I give 400 Degreez a star for each time it was certified Platinum by the RIAA...5/5, *****!!!!!
