hummus ultimately is supposed to be very simple; garbanzo beans, olive oil, tahini, salt, lemon, garlic. there's so many out there and they all have slight tweaks to it so you got to look at the ingredients cause some of them might as well be junk food. the more mass produced widely available ones usually have more citric acid or maybe even potassium sorbate and a longer shelf date and maybe more salt, sometimes corn syrup and cheaper soybean oil. the more vegan leaning ones can taste pretty bland sometimes but at least its just unadulterated good ingredients. i tend to be leaning towards the more bland really basic ones recently
you could make it if you have a food processor, for pretty cheap too, control everything you put into it and make it the way you want it. if you have a costco membership that organic costco extra virgin olive oil they is very high quality and tastes awesome, and trader joes has a pretty high quality sesame tahini they sell
