That's great man. Cherish these memories while they last. My grandpa is 91 and has a shitload of accolades.

Grandma and grandpa gonna die soon. I assume you're prepared
Well seeing my grandfather has been dead since 1989 I think I'm well prepared for his passing lol

Gonna be a bummer when the OOG goes yeah but I think she has another good year or two left in her and she's lived a long fulfilling life. It's been really nice being so close the last four years, not that I was far before just the other side of Seattle, and I hope she passes where she currently is and doesn't need to go into a nursing home at any point because she'd fucking hate that. She's always been very self sufficient I mean she's almost 95 and still lives on her own lol so we all (her, me, my mom) hope she just goes in her sleep one night and that's that.

My grandpa is 95 and lives in a care center with my grandma. He has dementia and forgets who I am sometimes. He also gets angry at the nurses in the care center a lot and yells at people. If he's in a good mood he'll flirt with the nurses. I'm a miss him when he's gone. He's a hella cool dude. My grandma is pretty cool too, she ain't got dementia, but the nursing home hooked it up so that she can stay in the dementia area to stay close to him. she had a stroke years ago and has a hard time because of that, and she is in constant pain due to some leg problems she got. They say if they thought she would survive surgery they would amputate her legs, but they don't think she would make it, so they give her lots of pain killers and are trying to make things more comfortable for her.

my girls grandpa just passed from a heart attack and he was 88. Dude was in hella good shape too. I'd see him at some of her family events and he'd come shake my hand and squeeze as hard as he can and tell me he could take out guys in there 20s if they came at him. Then he'd tell me stories about shooting bears that come on his property and all the trees he cuts down for fire wood. As I was leaving, after the first time I met him, he pulled me aside and gave me a beer and said "just for the drive home" lmao. Dude was cool.

Thanks for sharing your story. I almost want to dedicate my time to spending time with old people

You should. When I go visit my grandparents there's a few old people there I'll talk to as well. They don't get visitors all the time so they like seeing us there. There's this one old lady who'll see me giving my grandma a hug goodbye and then she looks at me with her arms wide open waiting for one too. I don't know her name, but she's always happy to see us come visit. I don't think her own family does very often.

Well she currently lives three blocks away and now it will still be three blocks away just the other side of the street lol so the same.

She's in the same building as my grandma who will be 95 this August and still lives on her own so she likes that as she can help her more too now that's she retired and lives in the same building. They are on different floors though which I think both were happy about lol

But yeah mom promised when I moved into the neighborhood almost four years ago now she'd never just pop in uninvited and she never has so it's chill she could live across the street for all I care.
My mom occasionally rents out my upstairs apartment for 6 months or so when shes in seattle. That can get a little awkward, but our schedules are different enough, we rarely have the awkward run ins. Its funny when she runs into some broad leaving my place though all walk-of-shame style.

Sorry to hear about the dementia with your grandfather. I've never had to deal with that personally but have friends who have and I know it's hard. That's great your grandma is right there though I'm sure it helps.

My grandma has been lucky her mobility has only gone down in the last 4-5 years (needs a walker and has trouble getting up sometimes) but outside of that, arthritis, and mild glaucoma she's in pretty good shape all things considering. We think she might have had a very minor stroke about 6 months ago but there really wasn't much point in doing anything about it at her age so my mom and her best friend who have both been RNs for 30+ years just monitored her for a few days.

What did you extract that with? It looks like butter.
yeah butter, I steeped a half oz of good shake in cheese cloth with half a pound of butter and a bit of water to increase the surface area. Used double boiler method for around 6-7 hours, poured it into a small foil pan, stuck it in the freezer until it separates and butter hardened, then cut the bottom open to get the water out.
