Did you calibrate your tv? Or do you use the shitty presets?
I didn't have it calibrated but yeah I compared some calibration settings I found on the avs forums, then used the ones I thought looked best in bluray movies. The result is anything woth a shitty source like 1080i or 720p looks mediocre but bluray and shit looks ridiculously good. I still catch myself "watching the tv" sometimes, like focusing in on details and colors being impressed.

I want a 4k tv though honestly lol better start planning now maybe I can get one in a couple years

I thought the presets weren't that bad, especially the thx cinema preset. Everything has that movie theatre look, but then going into the advanced settings and using someones professionally calibrated settings made everything way better.

I like dark dark movies lol. I mean like if you walk into a dimly lit room are you going to be able to see every fine detail in someone's face? Like their every pore and wrinkle? Lol hell no they're going to have like half their face shaded, you might not even be able to fully see their eyes.

4k tvs arnt worth is at this point. There's very limited 4k sources, if any. I know ps4 and xb1 arnt outputting 4k.

Im not sure how i would feel about buying a new tv, knowing the SOE is only going to get worse.

Actually now that I think about it the presets were terrible lol. "Game" contrast gets cranked to like fuckin 100 and brightness to 75, everything is super bright and has sharp edges. Sure way to get image retention lol. "Vivid" makes everything look tropical and hyper-real also adds that soap opera effect i hate that shit. "Thx cinema" turns off all the motion smoothing stuff and noise reduction, turns off pixel orbiter, tweaks colors to a warm profile. "Thx cinema bright room" same thing but they add contrast and brightness. Using custom settings is the only way to go

I have some shitty settings on my tv. Dynamic, ultra dynamic, movie, game and some other bullshit.

When id watch sports there would be ghosting but after changing the settings it was fixed.

Dynamic setting was the worst, it would get so bright to the point it would hurt my eyes. Everything on tv looked fake, from SOE to colors being way to "loud"
