No clue. Just read someone say it on his facebook page. Dude was always a huge drinker, had been sober for 5 years up until his sister's death, but I didn't know he fucked with anything else. He didn't even really smoke weed back when we chilled, just drank.

The whole concept of 'gateway drug' is flawed, but I agree with you that booze is more damaging--substance wise--than any other drug of abuse. The culture surrounding dope, rock, and meth make the lifestyles involved worse than alcohol, but if we are just talking pharmacology, booze is bottom of the barrel.
