Mixerr Reviews #213
This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will be reviewing the song "Regulate" by Warren G. The song also features Nate Dogg. The song was released in 1994 under Def Jam/Death Row Records. The single went platinum. "Regulate" features a sample of Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)."
The song is about regulating. It begins with Long Beach as the setting. Warren G is driving through the Eastside. He starts rolling dice with some guys in the hood on 21st and Lewis. They end up pulling out their guns and rob him. Moments after, Nate Dogg comes to Warren G's rescue. Then they ride off in a car full of women to the Eastside Hotel.
"Regulate" also makes an appearance on the soundtrack of the film "Above The Rim."
Oakland Athletics All-Star 3rd baseman Josh Donaldson uses "Regulate" as his walkup music before batting.
As one of the most successful G-funk songs ever, I rate "Regulate" 5/5, *****!!!!!
