Floyd Mayweather boasted in the All Access Episode 4 that Canelo Alvarez's management was stupid for publicly saying they would fight Mayweather below the 154 lb limit...Leonard Ellerbe called Team Canelo idiots and said they would have gotten the fight at 154 anyway but allowed themselves to get taken advantage of...Canelo's team was visibly angry and Canelo was livid as they watched the segment on the screen ...up until now Canelo had a cool head about himself...but from what I saw Floyd got under his skin real good with the "idiot" comment.
My conspiracy theory..."Canelo is getting set up to fail"...by Oscar De La Hoya himself...this was going through my head for a couple of weeks.
1- Oscar knows that he was a more talented and experienced fighter than Canelo is now when he fought Floyd and by his own admission said he knew he couldn't beat Floyd and didn't beat Floyd the night they fought. "I didn't realize he was that fast" "My dedication to the sport was not as great as Mayweather's...I partied to hard."
2- Oscar checks in to a rehab avoiding what is supposed to be the BIGGEST FIGHT since he and Mayweather squared off...doesn't make sense.
3- Canelo was offered a shot at Mayweather when he was 19 years old WTF...but he smartly turned it down stating he was not ready. Floyd boasts on All Access that Canelo has been reared for this very moment from the gate by Floyd and Golden Boy.
4- Oscar has been very careful with Canelo...they were trying to go after Paul Williams and Miguel Cotto for some crediblity...but I think they would have just did one test fight and went on towards Mayweather anyway...it just so happened that Austin Trout got in the way...because Cotto is who Canelo wanted to fight (you could hear and see him routing for Cotto over Trout ringside)
5- Speculation on Oscar having enough faith in Canelo when he faces off with fighters who are not Jr welter weights...I don't hear much talk of his future plans of moving uppward or cleaning house.
6- The last piece is Floyd Mayweather Sr openly talking about a "mole" or "spy" in Canelo's camp that reports back to him about Canelo's weight issues and that he has been starving himself...I wonder could that mole be Oscar himself?
7- Now the one BIG trump card to my Oscar Gate scenario is: "Why would Oscar throw his own Golden Boy fighter under the bus mascaraing as Canelo's trusted adviser for one BIG night?"..."Why would Oscar gamble with his supposed future Golden Boy by pitting him against the best P4p fighter who could potentially humiliate him and send Canelo spiraling down like Floyd did to Oscar?"
I don't think Oscar cares about Canelo Alvarez or sees him as having a future if Canelo has to fight bigger fighters...cash out now and cash out big.
Conclusion: If I was Canelo...I wouldn't trust Oscar and just rely on my camp...everyone knows that Canelo should have been the 3-5th fight...giving Canelo couple more tune ups (question would be at that stage could he still make weight as he would have grown more)...he would have had a better grasp on speaking English cause the dude is smart. Oscar is just fishy.

Besides, GB co-promotes Floyd and have a relationship with showtime - their making money.
