on the last episode of the first season. so ive watched a good 9 hours of it.

i was a fan of the movie, had the poster on my wall for years as a teen.

very brilliantly written, billy bob thorton is killing this role, he should have if he hadnt, won an award for his acting on this. love how they set shit up on here, it makes me want to watch the next episode every time just to see what happens.

im gonna start season 2 as soon as i finish this last episode.

i was really afraid they were gonna fuck up on making this. so i honestly gave it no chance until i read this thread. so thanks to everyone for the suggestion

Kirsten Dunst, Ted Danson man the whole cast has been great. Watch them sweep the Enmys
The Indian was my favorite character by far. Such a psycho in a good way. I guess he's in that Bone Tomahawk movie, which is supposedly brutal. Gonna try and peep that out this holiday break (Kurt Russell is a fucking sav).

yea most of these TV reboots/spin off/prequel projects are just alright at best but damn season 1 of this was really good. liked it way more than the movie tbh. season 2 is kind of hard to get into, its dumb to move the time to before the local accent/charm was established. thats a huge part of identity for this franchise & this 70s motif is bordering on cookie cutter, but i'm only on the 2nd episode. I'll give it a chance but losing billy bob & the local characters was stupid. at least season 3 will take place in 2010 so that aspect will return eventually.

Season 2 is hard to get into and stupid but you're only on the 2nd episode? lol

Personally, I enjoyed the second season far more than the first. And I Darn tootin' mean that. Season 1 just felt like it was trying too hard to be like the movie. Season 2 felt organic and natural, and while yes influenced by Fargo it never seemed like a TV version knockoff. Plus, the cast in season 2 was even better and everyone did a phenomenal job, even Bokeem Woodbine was amazing. Bokeem Woodbine! The guy has been in so many forgettable shit movies that you'd have to go all the way back to Jason's Lyric and Dead Presidents in the mid 90's to find actual roles worth a damn. That's just great casting and finding the right actors for the right characters, as he was one of the most interesting characters of the show (who could have predicted that?).

man i slept on this post, you are 100% on point with how i feel to the point where i almost feel like i wrote your post lol. I watched season 1 and season 2 was boring as all shit in comparison! i tried to get into it too, got to the 2nd episode , skimmed the 3rd and bored myself watching it. everything you say is exactly how i feel. my boy watched season 2 on accident when i told him how dope fargo was, and hella liked it. i made him watch season 1's first episode, and he finished season 1 before season 2 and hella liked it.

i feel like, if you didnt watch it while it was created, every week, and you have the ability to just watch it back to back, either season 1 or season 2, season 1 is so much better. but then again im saying this because i broed with season 2 so quickly, season 1 got tight the first episode. season 2 was more of a buildup. still havent watched it all, but i eventually will.

i literally have no reason to watch season 2 outside of the fact my homie said it was really good, & what everyone here says in defense of the season, but the homie stopped it to watch season 1 & finished season 1 in full instead, while invested in season 2 already. the shit was just superior the first season. i feel like , if you have the ability to watch both seasons whenever you want via stream, it makes season 2 look like shit. but maybe if you watched the first, waited till they made the second, then watched it, you may have a different outlook.

ill try to finish it soon. i just feel like im force feeding myself.

I finished season 2 a while back & stand by what I said for the most part. It does improve after a while but never approaches the overall quality of 1. I'm just assuming yall prefer it cuz its more violent and has a motif you can identify with more easily. The Gerhardt's were all idiots except the mom who never had interesting story or character arcs. Ed & Peggy were big time jabronis but never as funny or engaging as Lester. It's literally the same "mild mannered character breaks bad" arc but it doesn't hold the same weight when it's explained away with peggy is crazy & ed is just stupid.

hanzee was cool but def underwritten & ofc mike milligan was dope but imo neither of them had the personality to match up with billy bobs character
