The moment you think anything on Family Guy is overboard, then the show isn't for you. They've done a lot worse than make jokes about domestic violence. There is a fucking pedophile on the show that constantly tries to get Chris do drink nyquil for christ's sake. There were times when I thought the content was questionable, but I've gotten over that. I think it's all hilarious.

Family is great although i havent watched the last couple seasons but everyone pretty much says its not nearly as good as it used to be. I own seasons 1,2,3, and 5 on dvd and the shit never gets old.

As for American Dad - I don't like it. The alien bugs me and I can't help but think they were trying way too hard to create another Brian and just went overboard. If Family Guy wasn't programmed after it I would never watch it.
