Ive checked this one out before. It really looks like a nice institute but the price range is really too high for most. Im probally gonna be at SF state in the fall to pursue a "Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Arts with a Concentration in Visual Communication Design." Kind of long title for a digital media major.

Yea Ive been there to check it out..nice place but too expensive for me.
Los Medanos JC in Pittsburg is probally the cheapest place in the bay if you wanna learn about recording arts.

^ Yeah you do need attend full time, that's the bad part. The money seems alot, but with Financial Aide, it will be a monthly bill after 2 years just like any other school. It will take years to pay it off though, but it ain't like they askin cats for hella Gz upfront. Their studios ain't nothing compared Los Medanos, I can tell you that much.

You ain't gotta tell me about the Music Industry bro, and really I never said I'm attending this place, I just said I went on the tour. And it isn't about getting jobs at "studios". It's a degree in Sound Art, not some lil certificate in Recording. Your employer list could be from Digidesign, Sony or whereever to various gaming places, Pixar, Clear Channel, whereever. I heard Lucas Films is taking 1st pick at the most impressive graduates that come out of that place. You have to hustle your way up regardless, that's true about anything you try to pursue professionally.

Know that a career in audio is a very very risky one, thats all i'll say without writing a novel elaborating further in detail why

ex'pression is weak. the equipment and staff are coo but the classrooms are getting packed and you get jacked over recording/lab times. on top of spending stupid bread over there, your not guaranteed to get a gig. of course your never guaranteed a gig but when your paying that much money you would expect a good education and assistance to get a job but their hiring ratio is horrible. they have people graduating every month which means that theres more competition and the job assistance can't keep up with the pace of getting students gigs. i had a buddy that graduated there 3 years ago and hes still looking for a job!

The hiring ratio in the industry in horrible period because with expressions, cras, fullsail, la recording institute, the one in minnisota plus the 1000s of community colleges with recording programs there just ain't enough work out there. Those schools offer great educations but thats about it, its not like going to real college where if you get a degree you have a solid chance of getting a decent entry level position in your field, In music an entry level position is an internship where more often than not you will not be running sessions or even sitting in, you'll probably be painting or cleaning toilets for free washing the studio managers car, doing food runs etc etc. Those are the breaks. Thats why i said what i said in my earlier post

Be careful

Bottomline, you don't need a complex education to make it in the industry anyway. It's all in the hustle ofcourse. But, some people take recording programs, certificates etc. for their OWN knowledge. Not because it will look good in some kind of resume. A certificate means next to nothing in the big picture. But if you do want to go ahead and try to do it on a corporate type of level, then an accrediated degree is your answer, and this place offers that. I've yet to see something like this, and I even attended SFSU with a lil scholarship doing Audio Engineering etc. I wasn't impressed at all, only last a semester or so in that square ass place. None of your links really did anything for me either. This one's a good one, that's all I'm saying.

I think the most important thing is sticking with what you do/having enough talent and knowledge/never giving up. Theres plenty of folx who have came from LMC that have ended up with just as good of careers as people from Expressions. Even a little RA certificate from LMC is better than nothing and can still hold weight because LMC's RA program has a pretty good reputation around the bay.
Any current students or graduates? Im going into my forth semeser right now..gonna get my certificate after the spring.

I don't wanna be a drag to you youngstas with big dreams but graduating from a school like that doesn't mean much. Despite much higher graduation ratios than most regular colleges the success ratio of graduates of these type of schools is very very very low and if you aren't making big bucks after graduating, best of luck paying off a 60 grand plus interest student loan.
