50 CENT GETS SOULFUL ON NEW ALBUM

Rapper 50 CENT plans to show off his soulful skills on his third album BEFORE I SELF DESTRUCT after falling in love with Motown classics. The IN DA CLUB hitmaker - real name CURTIS JACKSON - is planning to shock fans next spring (07) with his new sound. He says, "I want the music to sound like something I haven't done before so I needed to change the guys I worked with on the last project. "On my last album I stuck with what people have expected from me already but now I feel more comfortable to do something else. I've been listening to a lot of Motown stuff - SMOKEY ROBINSON - a lot of older music, so I got a lot of soulful loops. "I took material from some old, old records and recreated them."

You may be too young to know the deal but Motown was the shit they was the biggest record label ever with acts like jackson 5, smokey robinson, diana ross & the supremes, Lionel Richie and the commadore, rick james, Debarge, Marvin Gaye, Mary wells, willie hutch to name a few. So i wouldnt knock this project yet bc it may be tight ass fuck. remeber rap music is based around r&b (every rapper done sampled some kind of classic r&b track in they career)

^true. but do we want to hear 50 cent try to sing like michael jackson? no.

Honestly we dont know what kind of style he coming with bc no one has heard anything yet. To me it looks liek he gonna sample alot of old school beats on his production and make "21 questions" type tracks. We'll have to wait and see bc you never know whats in store I respect him to the fullest taht he is trying to do something brand new to start a new trend. and he got Eminem and Dr Dre behind him so you know it most likely will be good

I can dig 50's music, but I don't see why he's acting like he's doing something groundbreaking here. People have been sampling Motown music for years, just look at most of J-Dilla's work, or Rocafella releases, back in their hayday.

Might be a new sound for 50, but cats have been onto this sound for years...

Exactly...

50 is a smart business man though. This is a new sound for him, and that's how he's presenting it.

Just like any product that's out there: There may be a similar product of a different brand that has 5 specific ingredients. If your brand chooses to use those ingredients in your product, taking into consideration you've never used them before, you can now call your product "NEW AND IMPROVED".

Makes sense. Cats give Master P respect for being a "business man", but I think 50 is killin P in that respect. He's just a lot more savvy.

im sorry but a whole cd of 50 singin on the whole song instead of just between verses is fuckin gay. thats almost exactly the direction i see his "new sound" going. i think he sounds like a fag when he sings on the hooks. i dont mind his raps most of the time but listening to him sing especially after killing ja for the same shit seems a little "shady" to me.

You kinda sound mad lol ... Get a grip man, it's just music.

As far as 50 killin Ja Rule, again, another savvy business move my 50 Cent.

Get rid of the competition: Ja Rule was sellin a good amount of records with his sing songey stuff. 50 & Ja got a history of beef or whatever. 50 sees that the singin thing is a viable way to sell records (gets the females attention). He kills 2 birds with one stone in his beef with Ja Rule. 1) Eliminate the competition 2) Fill the void left by the competition in the market place....

Genius!
