It's funny how a Gay Man wants to ban religion, because people these days don't have Morals.

THAT'S WHY HIS MOUTH IS WIDE OPEN

Elton John: Religion Encourages Hatred
Nov 11, 7:00 PM EST

The Associated Press

LONDON -- Organized religion fuels anti-gay discrimination and other forms of bias, pop star Elton John said in an interview published Saturday.

"I think religion has always tried to turn hatred toward gay people," John said in the Observer newspaper's Music Monthly Magazine. "Religion promotes the hatred and spite against gays."

"But there are so many people I know who are gay and love their religion," he said. "From my point of view, I would ban religion completely. Organized religion doesn't seem to work. It turns people into really hateful lemmings and it's not really compassionate."

John also criticized religious leaders for failing to do anything about conflicts around the world.

"Why aren't they having a conclave? Why aren't they coming together?"

John said those in his own field have been similarly lax.

"It's like the peace movement in the '60s. Musicians got through to people by getting out there and doing peace concerts, but we don't seem to do them any more," he said. "If John Lennon were alive today, he'd be leading it with a vengeance."

not just against gays, religion is usually the sole reason for alot of violence in the world aside from poverty & drugs....most wars are fueled by religion, as well as hate groups defending their brutality with their religion.

I love his logic. Let's ban the religion and lifestyle of the religious because religious people have tried to ban our lives style.

Yeah, why not go and "ban" German's or Russians too Elton? They hated fags as much as anyone.

You can tell by his face and his boyfriend's face that they have some fucking screws loose in their head. It is absolutely beyond me how anyone could ever accept gay people as normal. To me that is equivalent to peadophiles, or necrophiliacs or people who enjoy bestiality. I place them on the same level.

Look thats cool, thats your opinion, and I disagree with it, but everyone is free to do what they want. If adults men wish to stick each other's dicks in their asses behind closed doors, then they are entitled to do that.

Just the same, I am entitled to my opinion, which is that I find it repulsive and I firmly believe that it is a mental disease or simply nature playing tricks on people, and putting females in male bodies and vice verse.

Gays and their supporters want their opinions and choices respected? Well so do I, and my opinion is that I don't think it is normal. When you start respecting that, I will start respecting gays.

I don't hate gay people. To me there jus misguided. And they are blind to what they do. That's why there is always a masculine and a feminine one even in a gay relationship. Nature is compensating in thier subconscious.

I do feel bad for them because their hatred for the natural order of life for whatever reason they choose not to confront, is makin it so that they miss out on what true divine union is. They are more of a victim to television and the growin attitude to accept somethin even if it is wrong because it is an easier path, then any misguided teachings or misinterpretations of a church or religious following.

Instead of needless arguing and fightin we need to start identifying our problems within ourselves before we start bitchin jus to bitch. You feel me?

Misery loves company.

The players change, but the game remains the same.

If I loved to fuck people over because it made me feel powerful. But I still felt alone, cuz you can't brag about what you did if nobody is on your level. So in my misery I teach somebody to do the same. Then they teach other people and all of a sudden there are more people who believe in that then what is good. Does that make it right? Or do I have a disease and would rather infect people then search for a cure? Cuz the cure takes work and understanding, and fuck all that noise cuz I hate everybody anyway and I'm lazy and if I gave everybody one eye then my one eyed ass couldn't be king . Cuz my land of blind people no longer exists and I'm a whiny lil bitch.

You wanna know why the world gets shittier and not better? Cuz we refuse to fix it. And it starts with each individual. Then with an army. Then with war or peace. It is our decision.

i am not homophobic and think elton john makes good music.

but the fact that the word of a musician is in any demographic considered valuable, moreso than politicians and analysts (i.e. the thread on pitbull) is ludicrous. why should anybody give a fuck what somebody says because they have talent in a completely unrelated field?! that shit jus doesnt make sense to me.

in response to his statements, i dont believe its the religions that make people hateful. i believe it is pride in general that breeds hate. and some people just have too much pride in their religion. religion should be a personal devotion, an individual connection to a certain ideology which one connects with or feels is correct to themselves. when people are offended by others criticisms of their religion, or by other religions in general, or believes others should believe what they believe, i think the hatred they fill themselves with from these situations is against the teachings of religion and is a product of human pride, not devine love.

Sounds good. The problem is that organized religion nowadays is like organized crime - people are all signing up to be part of the gang irrespective of their hidden beliefs.

Yes i see what you mean. like i said, that is what i believe religion should be, or was meant to be. but you are right, there are a growing number of people, especially among the ignorant and easily misguided, that would ignore their own personal morals or faith for the feeling of belonging to something, similar to a gang.

but religion, when examined on a deep level, has many teachings that go much deeper than the dogmas and rules that people associate it with. i think if you can follow religion with an open mind, u can take from it messages of self improvement and spirituality that can lead to one being filled with peace and hapiness, not anger and pride.

i think the messages are sometimes skewed and the people focus on the wrongs things many of the time, and that is a big part of the problem.

Which parts of the world?

most wars are fueled by religion
During the last 100 years how many wars were fueled by religion?

as well as hate groups defending their brutality with their religion.
Which hate groups are fueling wars?

Allow me to show you just how hypocritical some of you are:

Elton John Loverboys believe religion fuels anti-gay discrimination and other forms of bias, but several of you take it to mean all religions or believe that all religions do this. If this is true, what about the people who leave the homosexual lifestyle after finding religion, and what about the churches who accept homosexuals in the congregation and have homosexuals in leadership positions? Am I denying religion can be used to implement discrimination or bias? NO! However, religion is a choice, and I can feel discrimination or bias simply because of the clothing I chose to wear. You can be discriminated against because of the music you listen to. Rap music promotes EVERY abomination on the face of the globe, but does that mean all rap music is like that? NO!
