The USGS estimates that several million earthquakes occur in the world each year. Many go undetected because they hit remote areas or have very small magnitudes. The NEIC now locates about 50 earthquakes each day, or about 20,000 a year.
We had a 5.6 in Oklahoma a couple weeks ago and felt aftershocks for a couple days. I lived through the big earthquake in Cali in 89 and it was nothing like that but still sucked cause we never have earthquakes here. Last thing we need is an earthquake while tornado's are going on
