Did anybody else screen cut off when Reggie was being asked the question from a fan about what system was running in the background of one of the videos?

At that moment when he was about to answer, the video cut off today and I missed what system it was.
This morning, Nintendo showed off a highlight reel of third-party games supposedly running on its new Wii U console. They looked great. Turns out that footage wasn't running on anything of the sort.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has told GameTrailers that the footage—of games like Ghost Recon and Darksiders II—was instead culled from the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the games.

He says the reason for this is that Nintendo is still "a year away from when the console will launch".

Wow, talk about false advertisement. That is shady as fuck on Nintendo's part. Sounds like they were trying to keep up with everyone else, and they hella failed.

Makes sense. But still, it sucks that they have to use footage that is potentially not as good as how their final product will look.

What were they gonna not show footage from the third party games being made for the new system? Of course they used footage from PC or other consoles. But, you know, it wasn't really Nintendo that did this. It was the developers that made those games. Ask them why they don't have Nintendo Wii U footage ready yet. The Wii U is more than a year away. Notice how they also didn't give pricing information. It's way too early.

not impressed with that wii controller at all.
Probably the most interesting usage I've heard for it thus far is that one player acts as a "commander" of sorts in what is, for other players, an FPS. The player with the Wii U controller has an overhead view of the battlefield and can provide intel to combatants on their team. I read that Ubisoft has some FPS game coming where there is a multiplayer mode like this. The player with the Wii U controller has the top down view and controls alien enemy combatants from that vantage point, while other players are stuck on the ground trying to beat the odds.

At first I felt the same way about a controller with a screen. But as I am hearing more, it's starting to make sense. I'd say that this is an innovation that hardcore gamers and developers can get behind more so than motion control. Time will tell.
