I think u can agree that women have different ears for music than men. They care about what's popular and that's dictated by what's played on the radio and in the club. Bay area women are the exception I have seen due to the many choices of rap they have. But if I play a broad some j stalin I bet u she is gonna say that's cool but can u put in some 2 chainz or e40. Because that's what's hot right now. I think all rap serves its purpose, whether commerical, gangsta, etc.

Women don't like tracks like this one???

On a more serious note, I am fully aware of the reason women look at music differently - it has to do with basic difference between male and female psychology which are in turn the result of the evolutionary history of the human species. There is a reason why in the 90s it was probably equal numbers of men and women who listened to the music at the time but today it is pretty much only men who still remember that music, and that's only one example when it comes to music. It's the same reason why gamers and comic book fans are almost exclusively male, why the very idea of having a hobby is in general something we associate with males but not with females, why there are so few female musicians, so few female scientists at the very top level, etc. The time men can afford to devote to getting deep into activities of that sort, women have historically had to devote to raising the offspring.

And that's how, hundreds of thousands of years later, we have the current situation, which is that to women music is something ephemeral that matters in terms of its social function here and now while for at least some men it is something that is important in and of itself. That's a minority of men, obviously, for most, the social function of music (i.e. try to score something in the club) is what is more important too, but it's still a fraction much larger than close to zero which is what it is for women.

The problem is that the music industry is consciously (or unconsciously, it doesn't really matter) aware of that too and that's why we have so much music that is designed to cater to females and their superficial approach to it, which forces the males to also like it (so they can score something in the club) and so once females became the dominant music buying demographic group (because male were savvy enough to first bootleg it and later download it for free from the internet) it all went downhill from there.

I despise broads that ONLY like mainstream/love/sex/club...party and bullshit rap...

It is chicks like that...who make men think that most... if not all women... do not have good taste in rap music...

Well... I'm glad I'm not one of them types of chicks...

Anyways... I'll be spinning both of these albums tonight... I got them in the mail earlier... I'm not a big fan of the whole "Function" sound...but I bought it anyways because I'm insane about owning the complete discographies of rappers that I love... I'm sure there will be some songs on it... that I will enjoy though...

Shit... I cannot wait to get back to Cali.. out here in TN... there isn't much
good selection at music stores... I always have to resort to online to keep up with most rap releases... I do my best to support my favorite artists...

Fair assessment. Note that you don't remember much about the revenue albums either...
yeah usually if a album dosent have that constant replay value to it i will totally forget about it.

but another thing to its all opinion meaning for some music you need to be in the mindframe or mood for it or if not then its a wrap.

i dont use the term, but damn...some of them responses were "TL" and I "DR"
keep it simple...you liked it or you didnt...no need to break down the history of musical demographics and compare cultures of listeners and shit like that.

from what Ive heard on these albums, i havent felt much that lived up to the damn near 20 year wait for this....but music is a lot different now and this is still a job to these men no matter how much they enjoy it, its going to pay their property taxes for those mansions and put food on their golden plates...

And for any rappers that are knockin 40 and Short...i really dont think that your opinion is worth much because you cant knock a man in the same profession thats doing 100x better than you...hell, they are doing better than 92% of bay area rappers
