Why even put out hard copys anymore? Seem like a weak ROI... Just take it a 100% digital... Maybe like an exclusive 1000 hard copys sold straight off your site if anything

It's not just hip hop....Sells for ALL genre's of music (mainly mainstream albums) are at an all time low, this is why you have a group like Atmosphere in the top 5, above alot of more known artist...

This just proves that underground artist arn't the ones really losing, it's the mainstream acts that are getting fucked...

regardless if thats acurate its better than 95% of the artists in the bay these days. yeah, most haters on this site are probably lucky to make that in 6 months.

since when do you get paid weekly on soundscan sales?

Last I remember, it was 60-90 days and then every 30 days....
and senator is right... the distribution companies hold at least 25% reserve on returns.
1519 on soundscan opening week for an indie isnt bad at all.... for the most part... week 2... will be a big determining factor... if numbers climb, you're in good shape. If they drop, time to put more time and money into marketing and promotions.

where did this number come from? city hall had to re press this week and we pressed three thousand before we ran out, sound scan doesn't include mom and pop stores or itunes, i would say its safe to say we are at about 2700, thats just a guess, but a guess going on re orders, the mom and pops always sell more than a major store, they push there product, we shipped 3000 so if we had to press again for re orders thats a good look for less than a month,i think this album will sell 5 thousand at least at the rate were going, i get 8$ a cd, thats 40 thousand, and thats not including itunes

but im sure he re-couped his expenses. obviously music isnt the pot to put all your marbles in. its sad to see. technology! imo releasing a complete downloadable product is the way to go. like it was said maybee press 1,000 exclusive for the true fans that are now far and between. for the indie bay artists.stick to that day job.
