Absolutely NO one impresses me these days. Though Mitchy Slick & Ecay Uno seem to be keeping it TRUE to the West's sound. The same with many Chicano rappers be keeping it G-Funk, the way it should be.

Rap ain't the same no more, that's for sure! It's SAD IMO. The sound of the music has just gone waaaay down the drain IMO. I don't care what anybody says but the 90's were HOT from Coast to Coast, from the West, South to East.

I FELT THAT WAS SINCE CASH MONEY HIT THE STAGE....GOT THE MAINSTREAM ON THE THAT BLING/ICE SHIT.

THEN I HEARD OF THIS NIGGA....

Fuck it, Lets just take another region's movement, give it a new name, and pretend like we had it for years. But real shit, the Bay only gives a fuck about The Bay. They aint tryna bring the west back, they tryna bring the Bay back. So lets say this sub genre of Crunk does blow up, as soon as a southern cal rapper trys to feed off it they gonna start bitchin and moaning about how we want to steal they movement and shit. I dont got nothin against the Bay because no matter how bad they wanna be southern they still apart of Cali and I want whats best for the coast not just southern cal but unfortunatly they dont see things the same way.
ALTHOUGH IM FEELIN SOME OF THE HYPHYNESS GOIN AROUND, I DO HAVE A FEW ISSUES OF COMPLAINT THAT I OFTEN WONDER ABOUT WHEN EVER IT COMES ACROSS IN A BAR......BEEN WANTIN TO SPEAK ON IT BUT DIDNT KNO HOW TO COME ABOUT IT.......YOU JUST OPENED THE DOOR FOR ME....

RECENT ONES GO...

ARTIST/I DONT KNO......BUT HE SAID SUMTHIN TO THE EXTENT OF....

"IM SO FLY I DONT NEED TO BANG, AND IM FROM THE BAY YOU KNO THEY STEAL OUR GAME"..........I FEEL IF ANYTHING YOU SHOULD LIKE THE FACT THAT ANOTHER REGION IS FEELIN WHAT YOU DOIN....JUST PAY HOMAGE.

ANOTHER QUOTE......

ARTIST/CANT REMEMBER HIS NAME...BE WE ALL KNO THIS ONE....

"WE REP THE BAY, WE DONT REP CALIFORNIA---IM LYIN!!"....I FEEL HIM ON THAT AND AT THE SAME TIME I FEEL LIKE ITS A DISS TO THE REST OF CALI......I FEEL LIKE DEEP DOWN HE PROBABLY REALLY MEANT IT.

THATS A WIERD QUOTE BECAUSE YOU CAN TAKE IT POSITIVE OR NEGATRIV.

SO IN PLACE OF THE WORDS "THE BAY"...I JUST PUT IN "DI-E" AND KEEP IT PUSHIN.

THIS IS THE TYPE OF SHIT THAT DIVIDES US EVEN FURTHER...WHY?..I DONT KNO.

I find it funny that the thread was started with someone saying they tired of females bumping South music in the Westcoast, but than say we need to support Hyphy music cause its the main thing in the West right now.

Naaah, the Hyphy movement is a copy-cat of the South's Crunk. Let them be. It's too soft and happy for my taste, sounds highly annoying as a matter of fact. All techno/trancy sounding and fast ass tempos with wierd ass beats, WTF?!?!?! Might as well just call it Techno-Hop or Fuck, just POP. WTF are fools thinking these days, wierdos? F*ck that, we should do OUR own thing.

We should have kept it G-Funk all along. True SICCNESS.

I guess when you grow up listening to peeps like... Spice1, Above The Law, Dre, Snoop, Warren G, Jayo Felony, Too Short, Tupac, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Biggie, RBL Posse, Brotha Lynch, X-Raided, Mr. Doctor, C-Bo, Celly Cell, older E-40, Lighter Shade of Brown, Kid Frost, KnightOwl, Mr. Shadow, Bone Thugs, older 36Mafia, WuTang, Jeru the Damaja, Nas, The Roots, Black Moon, Smif-N-Wessun, BootCamp Clik, Camp Lo, Souls Of Mischief, etc.. it's VERY hard to like this new $hit. :(

Absolutely NO one impresses me these days. Though Mitchy Slick & Ecay Uno seem to be keeping it TRUE to the West's sound. The same with many Chicano rappers be keeping it G-Funk, the way it should be.

Just think about this, those of you who are like 16-25yrs old right now and support this Hyphy/Crunk rap, when your about lets say 35 or 40, are you still going to listen to this $hit? hahaha, I highly doubt it, you know why because none of this new shit truely hits the soul! You can't make oldies out of any of this shit. Each new song is random noise and goes in one ear and out the other the next week. When you get that old, you foos will bust out the 90's $hit like Dre's Chronic album, Tupac,WarrenG, BoneThugs, etc... and say NOW THOSE WERE THE TIMES! I'm barely 20 now and I'm ashamed of my generation, fools are all wack.

im turnin 20 an i feel tha same way!!!!!!hyphy is coo i like it somewhat mac d-r-e an keak but really thizzin is only coo when you wit a bitch but as far as music goes it would be coo to have some music like that but you gotta stay true to tha game!!!!!!!!an tha game'll stay true to you!!!!!!!

Music evolves. i think it all depends on what the trend is. for a minute it was all G shit. all the old school rappers outta NY was like this shit sucks feeling the same way fools is feeling about hyphy.but i do agree this inbred relative of crunk is sorta out of place for that true cali vibe.but the g-funk sound ran it's course and something new was needed. now if we can get something that lands somewhere in the middle we might have a better chance of really starting a movement.but keeping true to our roots.

Nah, I don't think music evolves. We still got the same instruments and even better tools now like computers to keep making the same music from the 90's, 80's,etc... We can just enhance it even better now. But I will have to say that beats in general are a lot easier to make these days, anyone foo can just bust any quick beat on Fruity Loops, Reason or other computer program. That's kind of where the creativity went down the drain IMO, back then it was more about using actual real acoustic instruments or actually buying the real physical hardware synthesizer which cost $$$. Now everything can be done all virtual with a computer. Whether that's good or not, I just think it takes away from the real creativity of making music. You don't even hear anything acoustic anymore, like a real guitar or real bass in hiphop songs, not even really piano anymore with nice chords, what you hear is all synthsized or sampled mostly and just super digital tech sounding. So what I'm saying, since it's easier to make beats now, your going to get your bunch of producers who really don't know much about musical theory knowledge itself. They just do whatever simple stuff or random that sounds good to them or sample. D4L's Laffy Taffy for example.

People are the ones that evolve. IMHO, I think the best sounding Rap/HipHop came out in the 90's. Whether it was a G-Funk beat from the West, Southern Three6Mafia beat or a beat from one of Jeru the Damaja's songs from the East, the overall mentality was fucking HARD!

And as far as G-Funk running it's course, I don't know about that one. G-Funk actually takes some skills to create. If you actually anaylze G-Funk hits of the 90's you will realize that some of these beats are really amazing and takes some actual musical knowledge. You will hear shit like real basslines, guitars, chords and what not. It's REAL music! You have to put some soul into that shit. That's why you probably don't really hear G-Funk beats any more, they take skill to create. But I have heard some nice new style G-Funk beats from peeps's songs like Mitchy Slick, Ecay Uno, Mr. Criminal, Mr. Shadow, so the mentality is still there. And when I say G-Funk, I don't mean they have to sound like California Love, just make the beats SICK with that G flavor, like Bone Thugs had some sick ass beats in their E 1999 Eternal album, the same with Three 6 Mafia in their older albums of the 90's. I don't care what part of the US you come from, just make some sick sounding shit. It would be nice if it came from Cali though of course.

This Hyphy shit just doesn't fall under that category. I'm sorry, but it's just WACK. IMO it should only be used as a TOOL to get bitches to do crazy shit. Booty shaking horny shit, that's about it though. Or leave it to the youngins like Middle Schoolers or High Schoolers who don't know shit about anything. Other than that, if your a guy and witnessed the wrath of the 90's, you seriously shouldn't listen to this shit on your own time IMO. I'll be embarassed to bump this Hyphy/Crunk shit.

MUSIC DOES EVOLVE BRO LOOK AT THE BLUES,JAZZ, ETC. ONE STYLE IS LIKE A HYBRID OF ANOTHER. G-FUNK WAS DERIVED FROM FUNK. IT DID RUN ALOT OF IT'S COURSE WHEN MOST THE FUNK CUTS HAD BEEN SAMPLED TO DEATH. IF YOU LOOK AT MOST THE RAP FROM THE 90'S A MAJORITY OF THE SONGS ARE REMAKES OF FUNK SONGS. OR HAD IT'S FOUNDATION OFF FUNK. I DO AGREE WITH FRUITY LOOPS AND ALL THESE HOME PRODUCERS WATERING DOWN THINGS BUT. EVERYTHING DOES EVOLVE. OR WE WOULD STILL BE GROOVING TO RAPPERS LIKE KURTIS BLOW TALKING BOUT HOW HARD HIS FLOW IS. OR AN 808 OVER A SAMPLE. BUT RAP/HIP HOP HAS DEFINITELY MOVED BEYOND THAT PERIOD THANK GOD.

the east coast gave way to this shit. because after pac and biggie died jay z and puff pumped that materialistic, show off how much shit you got, senseless rap, then the southern niggas did it and now its all over. just party, drink cristal, ride 24's all this bullshit. Even though the beats changed and shit, the overall mentality of people changed and thats why this music is all gay and super happy shit. the 80s was on that gay dance senseless music shit the 90s came raw, and now we back in this gay dance music shit. But dont worry, the raw shit coming back its always a cycle. Plus the world finna really crack off and be on some real serious shit where we all have to pay attention, then fools gonna wanna rap about the real...cause its affecting them or they family.

Yeah, I guess you can say it does evolves. But I think people evolve more than anything. Society as a whole evolves and musicians right now are all happy style n shit like the Funk n Disco dance Pop days. 90's were just some really RAW times, but I think it produced some SICK rap because of it. Everyone's mentalities were different in the 90's compared to now. aaaahhhhh Whatever, I'm sick of it.
