@Mclean... there was a guy executed recently whos lawer admitted he did no work on the case, didnt even prepare anything for the defense of the death penalty. It was even found that the main witness against the executed was so able to lie and no one gave a shit cause the guys been in there (black his whole life, probaly innocent for decades) and had no money to get a new trial. So they kill him anyway. Most likely totally innocent of what hes in there for.

The only person who knows who did what crime is the person in jail. Everything else is pure speculation.

You can argue innocence all you want but you don't know what happened.

Unless you were at the scene of a crime at the time that it happened, it doesn't really matter what your opinion is.

Everyone has an opinion, but it really doesn't mean shit.

Your numbers are all fucked up 2-0-Sixx go do some research. 6.6 Million American's are NOT IN PRISON. That is the number of people in the ENTIRE CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM. As of 2001 almost 4 Million of those were people on Probation. A little under 2 million are in jail or prison and the rest on Parole (as of now there is slightly over 2 million)

Get eduated before you go spittin ignorance that you probably read from one of your fucked up biased sources.

The population in prison has rose at regular pace...if not slower.

"We imprison more than Russia, China, Iran combined "

2-0-sixx Please stop posting here if you deny to post anything of educational value. That has got to be the some of the most blatently ignorant shit I've seen. Do you always just read information and accept if blindly? This is the type of ignorance that makes me mad. I'm ok with it when someone just posts ignorance when they post it as their opinion....but when they post info as if it is fact yet is complete stupidity.....that makes me upset.

"U.S. prisons are private, and are profit driven
Prisons perform cheap labor for big business"

And so what? China Prison's belong to the government and perform cheap labor for the government? What's the difference?Do you even know what the Laogai camps are?

i am sure that there are some innocent people who fell throught the cracks who are innocent but will one day be executed. but 206 is implying that a great majority of those on death row are innocent, especially the black ones.

Just to clarify that "(as of now there is slightly over 2 million)" part was meant for the people in jail or prison not Parole, which is where I placed the ( ). if that makes sense...it should have looked like this

"A little under 2 million are in jail or prison (as of now there is slightly over 2 million) and the rest on Parole."

@Hit The Blunt,

I apologize if my numbers are off. (Remember the thread is called DOES THIS LOOK RIGHT?) I posted that information while I was at school and I did not have much time to check the sources or carefully read the article. I can at least admit they are wrong, unlike others on this board who will never admit when they make a mistake.

Whether or not the numbers I provided are correct or false, the numbers you provided show an increase in the prison population which clearly shows there still is a problem.

What pisses me off is that you have recently been attacking my posts with no visible explanation. The only reason I can imagine is that you disagree with my opinions and you feel the need to talk shit. I know your not attacking me because I post faulty information for this is the first time I have done so.

Why don’t you just make it clear to myself and everybody else the correct motive behind your anti-2-0-Sixx campaign.

Ok, that's good to hear.

"What pisses me off is that you have recently been attacking my posts with no visible explanation."

When have I responded to one of your posts in a negative way WITHOUT it being understood why I posted that way??

Some Stats...
In 2001, nearly 6.6 million people were on probation, in jail or prison, or on parole at yearend 2001 -- 3.1% of all U.S. adult residents or 1 in every 32 adults.
State and Federal prison authorities had under their jurisdiction 1,426,118 inmates at midyear 2002: 1,264,437 under State

jurisdiction and 161,681 under Federal jurisdiction.
Local jails held or supervised 737,912 persons awaiting trial or serving a sentence at midyear 2002. About 72,400 of these were persons serving their sentence in the community.

Between 1995 and midyear 2002, the incarcerated population grew an average 3.8% annually. Population growth during the 12-month period ending June 30, 2002 was lower in State prisons (up 1.0%) than in previous years, local jails increased (up 5.4%). The Federal prison population rose by 5.7%.
Whether some of you want to admit it or not, there is a severe problem in this country. Why in a land of equal opourtunity is there so many people in prison?
