Does anyone encode?

Mp3's.. or know how? Truth is, I know how but I'm trying to be as efficient as possible. It used to be as easy as mud to rip/encode- apparently restrictions have come about since the last time I've done this. I'll get to the point; my questions.

I'm using Audiograbber 1.83 with LAME 3.97

First- I've been told that using lame.exe as an external encoder is better than using lame_enc.dll as an internal encoder. Is there any truth to that?

When encoding with VBR the method options are Default, Old, New, MTRH or ABR (Average Bitrate). Which method is best? I've been using ABR.

Any other setting tips?

I'm basically trying to achieve a great sound with a relatively small size. Much like the standard for scene releasing.

LASTLY: Is there an easy way to convert .wma to .mp3?

I figure this thread will not only help me but others who might be interested in encoding.

I just realized some of these questions can only be answered if you actually use Audiograbber. The ones pertaining to VBR are general.

I just use 192kbps...its "cd" quality.

I use a real easy cnecoder called ID3edit...its free and simple, but doesnt have ANY features at all.
