Yup. The deaths, especially that of 2Pac, 'caused an unnecessary overload of super thug rappers...which became too much and the rap game changed completely. Ja Rule came in around the right time, because he got to shine off the hard shit, then when it changed, he came with other shit (the duets and love songs). Gangsta Rap will always exist, but it was kicked out of the mainstream after those two deaths (even though the murders had NOTHING to do with music).

If it died when Eazy died, Pac's last two albums never would have been as big as they were. West Side Connection's first album wouldn't have been as big as it was, either.

maybe in the mainstreams eyes that is the beggining of the decline of gangsta rap

but i still buy albums every year that i would consider gangtsa rap and alot of that shit slaps

i know this thread will be filled with people who wish and hope everyday that rap will go back to the 90's...... BUT its not gunna happen so quit fuckin cryin already

if you dont like rap anymore then that sucks for you find a new genre

I didn't know he had written a book, I have to read it. Azie Faison is the most respected in the game.

If by gangster rap you mean claiming gangs, then yea I agree. There's a different breed of music out there, but a lot of it is reflected through from stories people have heard. Sure you dip and dapple but you'll never amount to a true kingpin

I've heard some gangsta ass music since then. The new guys just don't get exposure like they used to. Shit even Common had some gangsta ass shit with that corner remix featuring scarface and mos def.

I think gangsta rap died when Death Row began to fall.... I guess you can say since Pac died. Death Row records had gangsta rap boomin' then Puffy started hating and then that's when he came out with Biggie (the east coast's gangsta rapper)
