That is the opposite of correct. When you're talking about politics and religion the only way you can really prove that you're "correct" (truth or not) is to dismiss an opposing view.
The only time I can believe a person does really have a specific view, is if they're closed to other views. For example, my view on religion is basically that it's bullshit. All sides. I'm an Atheist. I feel my belief in nothing is what makes me listen to other people's beliefs as far as religion goes. I learned a lot reading different religious books, I've been to church, I've even participated in the Dhur prayer with a guy in jail because he was the only practicing Muslim in our particular area. I didn't do all that shit because I was looking for a god. I did it to further understand people.
If I had been strong in most any other religious belief, that shit would never had happened... People who are strong in their beliefs would never pray to another god or vote for another political party because it would undermine what they have grown up to believe.
