My Old Schooler's and True Schooler's know wassup...The Bay has bred the best Turntablist crew ever Invisible Skratch Piklz (DJ Q Bert, Mixxmaster Mike(Beastie Boys), DJ Apollo, Shortkut, Yoga Frog)I was just curious how many people in this forum dig turntablism knowing the majority of the threads are about the New Bay Scene. Who remembers when Q-Bert used have DJ battles on KRON's Home Turf?

i will tell you this if a dj ever walked into my shows and hooked up a mac.... fired on the spot, no pay. cd's is alright, but if you can't spin a live mix wit wax u aint a dj. add one to the list dj myk1 out of frisco is one of the best dj,s i ever heard. he did some international web shit for a min, but rocks clubs all over da bay. He did half a mix on mind motions set on kmel and they literally said he was too hard for the radio. He only did underground shit and started with niki.

the DJ is the foundation of Hip-Hop point blank, Hip-Hop was built around the DJ, if you don't have respect for that, either you don't understand or are not educated on the roots of the culture we live in

wrd Ecose....But what I was sayin is that dude said "cds are ok" but he would fire and not pay someone who came in with a mac. With serato (and a mac or pc) u can use vinyl records its just that the SONGS are coming off the laptop....Yer still mixing and scratching vinyl.

I know plenty of DJs who still use the CDJs in the club even if they're usin serato I just choose to use the vinyl cause that's what I'm most comfortable with.

On the topic of the thread, I think more Bay rappers should have a DJ and take 15 of their hypemen/friends off the stage...all with mics and all lookin ridiculous. A good DJ will get yer set the way it needs to be

we aint talkin about those kinda djs. where talkin about tablists. musicians that manipulate sounds and create music out of it. it takes alot of coordination and skills to do it. anyone can mix or blend shit aint that hard but turntablism his a whole other skill level. peep this vid of one of the hottest tracks made live. These folks are from the bay and are only known in the underground scene but can kill any dj that spins on the radio.

Everything on this vid is ALL SKRATCHING. Basically a Turntable Band!

^ actually mixing and blending does take some skill, and that is how hiphop/djing started out. juggling to loop a break in a song so people could dance and later mc

but i understand you were talkin about turntablists cuz that's what you said.

i'm not really into it, i rather rock a dance than do a solo 3 min thing, but i do a few things like that.
