i've been wantin to make ayahuasca, which is basically a DMT brew. i don't have any experience with any type of psychedelic/hallucinogen but have been interested in trying this stuff for spiritual purposes. i've read about both good and bad experiences, its all about your mindset going into it all.
ive brewed ayahuasca in many of its different forms. only some shamans use the bark that contains dmt in their brews. u can make a very potent brew without it. ive done it both with and without. i can say if its ur first time i would probably hold off, as it only takes a couple ingredients to turn a mild but still potent brew into a pretty intense experience. theres defenitly a lot more room for a "bad high" wen it comes to ahayuasca but i guess it can be argued that u see what it is your supposed to see at that point in your life/spiritual growth or whatever. the same could be said about dmt, but chances are ahayuasca can be much darker, depending on the user.

I've read the same thing about that you have to wait until your next high.
Also what could be so wrong about doing a big/normal dose for the first time?

And yeah when I try this I would want to have someone sober near me the whole time to make sure that I'm alright.
immediatly after coming down off my high i remember thinking "i want to go back" and taking the same dose and smoking it in the same way (good sized dose, hit it three times holding in more and more) but the funny thing is that doing the same thing right after yielded no effects whatsoever. i thought that was interesting.
dont worry about doing too little the first time, id say just fill that bitch up and hit it as hard as u can three times holding the third the longest. ull lose your ego so dont worry about freaking out or feeling self conscious unless ur really insecure about who ur with or some shit. u have to be willing to let go of everything and open to the experience.
i think when ur going into the metaphysical side of things, thoughts and will have a big impact on the experience.

^^ I have that book, haven't seen the clip yet tho - I've been fortunate enough to have a buddy who extracts dmt in its pure form, brews ayahuasca, and extracts mescaline and other entheogens etc etc. He also makes some potent absinthe. I'll be experimenting with aya soon hopefully.

lycaeum.org is also a great resource for stuff like this - info there is more regulated than erowid so I think it tends to be more accurate
