this means shutting down the whole mixtape game...
no it just make it less profitable or more artist driven. freestyles over original beats. something for their core fans. the dj's wont be able to control it so much.

A source VERY close to SOHH have informed us that this whole raid at the ATL recording studio/office of DJ Drama and DJ Cannon was likely all a setup. By who you ask? This is where the shit gets greasy. According to our reliable source, this whole raid and arrest of the DJs for bootlegging was basically payback for a lawsuit DJ Drama won the day before his arrest--against a music distributer. Oh yes, that suit was purposely kept out of the mix. But we got the lowdown...

Three days ago (the day before his arrest), Tyree Simmons, b.k.a. DJ Drama, won a lawsuit against music distributing group BCD Music Group. Apparently this music group has also been slammed by Chamillionaire for stealing his tracks and selling them on the mixtapes they distribute. The have also been known to do some dirty dealings with artists about how much of their music was actually being sold--lies all around. So even though the source is remaining tight lipped about what exactly the case was filed by DJ Drama against them for, we're sure it deals with some stealing/profiting scams. Especially since said music group had to pay a hefty sum to Drama since they lost the case.

So the source is telling SOHH that this "raid" was likely someone from said music group being a snitch and pulling strings to get Drama and Cannon found out. The source went on to say:

"...if the RIAA really wanted to raid people, DJ Smallz wouldnt exist, Mixunit wouldnt exist, alot of other power players would not exist, if it was truely about 'bootlegging' "...

There's always a back story to these kinds of things, so I wouldn't be surprised if all this played out real greasy when Drama and Cannon beat these charges. Major record labels and distributers rarely out the smaller distributers/DJs of mixtapes--since there are some beneficial exchanges that go down for both sides. So this could be the work of a smaller, bitter music distributer--like BCD. Especially since top execs at BCD have had some drama with DJ Drama in the past. Story is still developing...
