too me the difference is the breed itself. you got american pitbull terriers which have been bred for 100s of years to keep the bloodline pure and you have pitbulls, backyard bred mixbreed. Im totally aware of the breeds past and i have nothing against people that can handle a gamebred apbts. I have two apbts, one that comes from a history of gameness and another that comes from a bloodline of showdogs. One thing they have in common is that they both have their physical appearance as they have for 100s of years. I dont like big muscular abpts. True like mentioned above. If a dog cant roll then he has no business in the box. Most litters dont have game offsprings. Its like human fighters not everyone has that instincts to become a fighter. Doesnt make the dog any better or worst. Ignorance breeds a lot faster than intelligence......
Finally some1 who knows their dogs! Good Posting. What line does your game dog come from... I was considering getting a Blue for my lady friend but in reality he would eventually come across my dogs.

YA THINK THAT'S BAD??? WHAT YA THINK ABOUT FOLKS WHO BREED FOR SHOW JUST TO GET THAT PURPLE RIBBON, YA THINK THEY KEEP ALL THE PUPS THEY GET? PLEASE.....THEY DROWN THEIR ASSES IF THEY DON'T COME OUT THE COLOUR THEY WANT...THE PERFECT BODY TYPE....ECT.

I hope your not a meat eater, and grow your own veggies. Otherwise miss me with the animal cause. Any meat you put in your mouth has been killed for you. Cows dont get excited to be slaughtered for us to eat. On the other hand Pits live for dominance, its in their own blood for much longer than I have been alive. You should always educate yourself before you speak. You go around calling people retards, and dont even know what your talking about. Agree or disagree its smart to have some knowledge to back your point.

@poisonpen - my male with the game in him comes from the boudreaux bloodline. On his papers I just got the 3 generation. From the sire's 7 generation certificate, it showed the 5th,6th and 7th generation boudreaux.

@kartoon ya know I gotta add some thoughtful pennies into this thread... Hows your stud doing??

BigE sounds like hes knowledgeable about Game APBTs on the other hand you got Pressplay that gets pwned by a pitbull ready to bite him in the ass when it comes to speakin on subjects such as this one.......

@ Pressplay You have proven yourself to be completely ignorant when it comes to dogs. Just leave this thread and never come back.

Like Pysdal said "BigE sounds like hes knowledgeable about Game APBTs on the other hand you got Pressplay that gets pwned by a pitbull ready to bite him in the ass when it comes to speakin on subjects such as this one..."

@ PsyDaL My Hog dog is doing great. Not only is he going to be competing in Wieghtpulling competions in July but Im flying down to Florida in Late August to meet & stay with Don Matthews (Konfederate Kennels) to do some hog hunting. They use AmericanBulldogs, Florida Curs and Colby Pitbulls for the hunting. There's plenty of wild hogs out there. Im both excited and nervious at the same time. But it should be an experience of a lifetime. Ill PM you and tell you all about it when I get back.

@ BigE Have you read any of DR. Carl Semencic's books? If not Id definatley recomend any of his 3 books "The World Of Fighting Dogs", "Pit Bulls & Tenacious Gaurd Dogs" and "Gladiator Dogs". They are all very good and filled with rare pictures of rare fighting breeds and info. My personal Favorite of the 3 is "Gladiator Dogs".

My buddy was just showing me one the other day. It was great read. Tons of old pics. Finding some of the old books and mag's are tough. I have been trying to get a new magazine with Sinful Sister on the cover and cant even get that. I got a little knowledge on this but in no way come close to many. I can educate ignorant people, but I still get schooled all the time. My partner is like a rolodex of dog knowledge, its crazy how much he knows, and he still gets schooled by all the elders.

I know the Zebo line gets knocked a lot, but I am happy with the 2 I have. On the other hand my buddy has gone through a few that just werent cut out. Between both of us we have 3 good prospects and 1 thats solid.

I heard they are trying to outlaw hog hunts ?

i have a pit and would never want her to fight. but i am curious on how someone says they love there dog and puts them in a situation where they can be harmed or most likely killed.if you love them dont you want them to be safe?protect them?if they win do you love them more then if they lose?
and if so then you dont really care for them like you think you do. i aint knockin anyones hustle or anything, u do u.....ill do me. but i couldnt watch my dog sit there and fight for its life and not wanna try to help it.

Im working with the Banjo line. Someone gave me a 3 year old female redboy/jocko and she was hot. she's no longer with me but I might condition my banjo girl and look for a mate.. I've been out of the mix for a min but I know I want a mate with a hard mouth. any suggestions.

I think folks got it twisted. These backyard ghetto breeders fucked up 1 helluva sport. I got so tired of hearing pitbull war stories everytime I walked my dogs down the street. every cat in Richmond & Oakland got a dog that killed something in every roll. Responsible dogmen dont get down like that... we love our hogs like they're our children.

It depends really. I have a almost 7 year old male straight cur, but he is my pride and joy, sleeps in the bed every night, great house alarm , anyone walks by the house he is on point, but would probably not do a thing if he had to. I would never do a thing to put him in harms way. But he was not cut out for it and he knows it. He gets punked by a 8 month old pup. But he gets the good life cuz i truly love him, he is my pet bull.

Like what was said earlier, these show dog people are far worse. To preserve traits in bloodline they will kill a whole litter if it doesnt come out they way they like. I have seen crazy stuff happen to dogs and its usually not from Pit owners. I went on a Coon hunt years back with my bro a bunch of other dudes and all of there coon hounds. These were Blue Tick Coon Hounds ,I guess expensive. So one of them tree's a Possum, and I guess he did it in the last hunt or treed a skunk (big no-no) , so the guy walks up and plugs it in the head with a 22 behind the ear, like nothing. I couldnt believe it.

Zebo line always has a great rep for mouth, from what I have seen well deserved.

@kartoon yea bro Id love too see some pics of your upcoming hunting excursion. I knew an American Bulldog handler years ago, the stories he would tell me about hog huntin out there in alabama. I tried loading up some pics but for some reason its not letting me click the manage files option.

no matter what kind of dog you have, either a fighter or a show dog, as long as you are know what you are doing neither one of them should turn on their owners. Ive owned alot of pits mostly backyard bred pits, but ive also had two pr blues. my backyard rednoses were actually healthier, more inergetic dogs.
- my point is only people who fail to educate themselves about owning a pit, are the ones who get bit by their own dogs, fr ex. pressplayprod.

im looking for a pit but ive heard there is a difference between the red&blues not only in color but in size and temperment could anyone help me with this
to answer the original question, most fullblood pits are smart enough to be trained, the problem is that because of the popularity of pits and peoples desire for a quick buck, there is alot of inbreeding going on. inbred dogs and mixed pits(muts) are born with a chemical imbalance that makes them more likely to turn on a owner.

If you are looking for a pit, notice that the eyes should not be blue permenantly, the ears shold not be overly floppy, the fur should be short and shiny. the dog should have a broad chest, but the head should be proportioned to the body. and never, ever buy what people call an "albino" pit bull they wont live long.
