Okay so since I got off Active Duty Air Force I've gained a bunch of weight and I'm looking to lose some of it. I know A LOT about gaining muscle however I have never been forced to go on a diet...

I got a Jack LaLanne juicer for Christmas and I've been juicing ever since. Yeah it's a pain in the ass to clean but I have to admit I am starting to have more energy and even feeling less fat (I don't ever weigh myself).

I'm just wondering what ya'll have used? Did it work? Drop some knowledge on losing weight...

Cheers!...

do the atkins thing, but DONT do it too extreme, cause its really bad for your heart if your body is stressed out from no carbs. what you wanna do is eat stuff where the protein is around the same ammount as the carbs, and also naturally low in saturated fat. dont worry about regular fat, cause your body needs that, but the saturated fat is the shit that will give you a heart attack.

good foods to eat are turkey, chicken, and fish (but not too much fish, cause of the mercury in it) for any kind of meat. even if you want a burger, its better to eat a turkey burger or some turkey bacon, that sorta thing.

any kind of vegetables are fine, any kind of fruit is fine.

foods to avoid are pasta, pizza, french fries, soda, beer, chips, cookies, candy, cake, any kinda stuff thats obviously junk food

its important to break the rules once in awhile though, so like you can have a pizza, but just dont eat it every 3 days or anything.

lots of times what i do is, like when i feel like eating fast food, instead of mcdonalds or something, i go to taco bell cause its a little healthier. instead of potato chips i'll eat corn chips, just little changes. at jack in the box i'll skip getting any fries or any soda.

combine that diet with some jogging and jumping jacks, and you'll lose the weight

Important to drink lots of water and supplement that with diuretics such as cranberry juice and other juices, green tea, mint teas, hot water / water with lemon, etc. you get the idea...

yeah man running for 30 min a day for 3 days a week while watching what you eat such as nothing white(bread, pasta, etc.) that will lose you some weight. Run more to see results faster. You have to do cardio to lose weight.

yeah... if you know bout gainin muscle you obviously know bout workin out...

I'd say do cardo first thing in the morning... off a basically empty stomach (it a little somthin if HAVE to)

and speed up your workouts when you hit weights so you get your heart rate up and start sweatin more

stay away from too much 'white' foods... eat mostly whole wheat... whole grain food

obviously stay off fast food... and shit like that... eat lean protein like chicken, turkey, fish...

good luck... I hate dieting/cutting

I'm in my bulking stage right now... where I hit the weights.... do bare minimum or cardo (just 10 min warm ups) and eat mostly whatever I want (try to stay away from A LOT of fast food still) and I just pack on pounds... I love it

I'm dreading trying to shed off some of the extra fat I gained over the winter... probably start a little before spring rolls around

not necessarily... I find cardio helps more than weight lifting.... but some people out there say weights are better.... (you just have to work at a certain speed to get your heart rate up)

again I would still recommend cardio to lose weight... but you don't HAVE to... at least according to a lot of experts out there

I've lost 65 since June.

I'm about to loose another 30 and its a wrap.

Let me tell you what I did/doing.

I hit the gym at lease 4 times a week.

I ate whatever I wanted on my gym days and kept track of my calories.

When I hit the gym I was aware of my calorie consumtion and made sure to burn at lease half of them calories.

So I manipulated my body into thinking that I really only ate half the calories.

On the days I don't go to the gym I make stay low on the carbs, eat viggies and protein.

But fuck a 'diet' though. It really has to be more of a lifestyle change than anything else, because just using the word 'diet' implies that you are only looking to get to a certain point, and then stop.

Trust me, I've done this twice in the past 2 years and as soon as I hit my goal, slowly crept back up my original unhealthy weight.

Check out that website though, there's tons of great information there, in articles and even the forum has a lot of great shit.

fuck a low carb diet... carbs are what you're body needs for energy.. carbs are good just make sure you eat complex carbs see, my post above
Preach.

like I was sayin... stick with the whole grain

I would say lower your carb intake throughout the day

high carbs in the morning... lower carbs at night

but fuck stay off carbs or go on the atkins diet... that shit aint healthy

im not fat, but this is what i do...

1) i stopped drinking soda, eating candy, and most sweets
2) use barely if any salt on food
3) cook vegetarian foods for lunch or dinner, i choose
(rice and beans, veggies and rice with a salad, etc.)
4) work out daily (push ups, sit ups)
5) jog every other day
6) eat less meals per day, and bigger portions at certain times (like i might go to work at 8, not eat breakfast, skip lunch, and eat dinner when i get off work, and not eat for the rest of the day unless its a snack)

and i dont eat until im full....i just fix a plate and eat that....maybe eat a salad and im good....when i was gaining weight it was because iw as going for seconds and thirds and fourths...and eating hella cinnamon toast crunch in the morning and burritos at lunch then pizza or somethin for dinner...now that ive changed my whole shit up i dont really go back and forth on my weight, ive been the same size for a second.

That's all good... except for number 6... stop doing that NOW if you wanna lose weight and be healthier

you wanna eat MORE small meals... you should break it up to about 6 small meals a day... and for sure don't skip breakfast... I know it's cliche to say this... but breakfast is the most important meal of the day

eating consistently all day speeds up metabolism... people make the mistake of not eating all day... which may help them lose weight in the short run... but it's very unhealthy... and in the long run you'll gain the weight back

And also I don't agree with the vegetarian shit... not from a health stand point at least... if you're doin it for personal beliefs whatever... but protein is good for you... and nothin wrong with eatin some chicken breast... nothin at all... jusf don't eaf fried chicken... and if you wanna be lean not toooo much red meat
