@ 6ness you said:
That's what I read. And 'people' will always be responsible for shit. That's why I can't believe that the Bible is the "word of God" when 'PEOPLE' wrote the book and organized it and put it together and keep translating it and reprinting it into every language on the Earth
And this is your right. However, in my opinion, you will be justified if you have read it and you come to your own conclusion. Now let me ask you an honest question. Lets say for the sake of argument that you believe the story of Eve being tempted in the garden. Lets say you don't believe anything else in the bible for the reasons you listed above. Now the question, if Satan were able to distort the spoken word of God that he gave to Adam face to face, how much harder would it be to distort the written word of god over a long period of time?
I'll still have to read the Bible though so I can get my own personal interpretation down though. I just have a problem believing some of that stuff...
And for this reason you will most likely not understand it. Instead of tossing everything you have learned about the bible out of the window, you are going in with a
BIAS and
UNBELIEF.
Heresy, which version would you recommend? I know you said the KJV is all right, but which one is "the best"?
The reason I am suggesting to use a KJV bible is because it is the most widely used translation, and it is easier to use with a greek lexicon and strongs concordance. An alternative would be an English Standard Version (ESV)
No, the fact is wether it is comical or not is subjective.
Fair enough.
Supported by history.
Ok, there may be facts scattered here and there throughout the scripture, but fact based myth is still myth.
I have said nothing about fact based on myth. "Factual" meaning it is a fact supported by recorded history, archaeology or nature has NOTHING to do with myth and EVERYTHING to do with it being PROVEN 100%
And no, I did not mean to imply that there is nothing that is possibly true in the Bible. In fact I acknowledged the possibility that it could be 100% true.
You still have failed in clarifying your position. You said, and I quote, "This is not to insult anyone's beliefs, because who knows, maybe the Bible is 100% genuine,
but the Bible can not be proven to contain any factual accounts of anything " (
bold emphasis mine.) When you use
BUT and start to compare and contrast you are opening a can of worms. You have stated the bible can
NOT be
PROVEN to conatain
ANY factual accounts of
ANYTHING. Yes, you acknowledged that
MAYBE the bible is 100% genuine, but you have NOT clarified your position pertaining to the bible containing factual accounts.
LOL, no I do not care to take you up on your little "wager." If you have a great point to make, then just make your point. Who knows, maybe somebody will learn something. It is possible to carry a discussion without being argumentative or condescending. I think we would all be better off if we could carry discussions in that fashion.
Again, I ask that you clarify your statement (pertaining to factual accounts in the bible) or withdraw it alltogether. Also, do not confuse using a sword with being argumentative or condescending. In addition, asking you to clarify your position is not argumentative or condescending but respectful in nature.
Also, at those mentioning the sabbath or inquiries about it you have several sabbaths celebrated by hebrew/jewish people.
