@outcastedoutlaw, Cuz there blocking sucks, it all starts with o-line. Hopefully our 2 starting o-linemen finally come back. Everyones jumping the gun with Crabtree, he faced a shitty secondary in Houston and had to push off to get one of his catches which was damn near his biggest gain. Watch when the Niners play the Colts, its all gonna blow up in there face thinking that Smith revived his career and Crabtree is so great.

Smith hasn't revived his career yet. And Crabtree hasn't really shown much besides what everyone already knows, the fact that he's better than DHB. I'm sure most 9er fans would agree that the Colts will easily win that game. And Bob Sanders is coming back which makes it harder.

The Niners are doing/did a better job of getting Crabtree involved in the offense. Seems like they drew up plays designed to get him the ball.
Did you see the game? There was really only one play that seemed designed specifically for Crabtree and that was the screen that they executed horribly. Other than that, he was running basic routes and just seemed to get open. He showed great hands and the ability to make a play when needed.

He may not be as good at catching but DHB isn't even getting a fair shot. Our first play of the game, Cable called a "Four Vertical".... all they do is just run him deep.
Come on Tony. In one game and only a week-and-a-half of practice he already showed better route-running, better ability to create separation, better preparation and MUCH BETTER hands than DHB has shown at any point in his full 7 games. There is no comparison. Both these guys will continue to get better, but nobody in their right mind should ever expect DHB to become a better WR than Michael Crabtree.

maybe true... but I'm gonna say the only thing DHB has on Crabtree is speed
I'm gonna say the only thing DHB has is speed, period. Just like the only thing Russell has is a strong arm. Both of those attributes are the reasons those two guys were drafted by Al Davis, and neither of those attributes has helped either of them produce.

It takes more than a single strength to be a good player in the NFL.

He still made a great catch at the sideline and kept two feet in while maintaining control of the football. You don't know whether or not that push-off was the sole reason he was able to make that catch. The ball was placed where only Crabtree could have got to it because it was damn near out-of-bounds as it was. You can try to find faults in his catches all you want, but you can't deny he had a strong showing. What about the 22-yarder that was negated by an illegal motion by Josh Morgan? He was wide open in the middle of their secondary. What about the two times he came up HUGE on 3rd down to make key conversions? How about the fact he was only able to practice and learn the offense for less than 2 weeks and STILL had a good showing?

You're normally pretty good at giving props where they're due, but when it comes to Crabtree it seems you can't do it.

Crabtree played very good considering it was his first NFL game ever... he was joining the team almost in the middle of the season... he played with no training camp or preseason reps

I didn't think he was gonna be bad in this game, but I didn't expect as much of an impact he made... he's gonna be a very good NFL player

lol Kah you crack me up. I admit i dislike Crabtree very much and a lot of it has to do with him getting the red carpet treatment after holding out 5 weeks into the season. If he does good against the Colts i will be sold that hes a good receiver but i doubt that happens.

you guys obviously havent grasped the concept that life is a marathon not a sprint, just like an NFL career.

crabtree coming in mid-season like that is impressive but not a tell all. sustained success is key as with anything...
