I actually got back from Dtroit yesterday and my dad grew up there, I still have family in Michigan but they live outside of The D now.

Coming from San Francisco its hard to relate it to anything around here, the density is just so different and almost all the neighborhoods immediately around downtown are complete ghost towns

I'll state again that I did not grow up in Dtroit but theres kinda two main streets, maybe three that run from downtown to the edge of town, and thats where the 5 mile, 6 mile, 7 mile and 8 mile neighborhoods derive, its how many miles you are from downtown. I was going to try to make a comparison to a couple streets in E.Oakland but, it just cant be done, the density is crazy different and you just got fucked up buildings everywhere

I also trip how there are virtually no asians in the D and most of the midwest and back home I gotta avoid running over some lady who just raided someones recycling every 5 minutes.

Sad stuff tho, there are some real nice places in the city even with all the crime
