i edit all my videos on my laptop with no problems....i just make sure i have it plugged in while editing.....AND all my footage is on a external...laptops these days can handle just as much as desktops....well to an extent at least
as far as as desk vs lap.....depends if you want to be portable or not....do plan on taking your comp with you places or not.....kinda pointless to buy a laptop if its just gonna sit on your desk the whole time...

What kind of router should I get though and how do they work really.
Im computer litterate but not with laptops n what not
basically is the wireless internet free? or does the company like d link bill you every month
With a laptop if somebody around you has wireless service and an unprotected network, you can steal theirs. If they dont you have to get your own service and hook the router into your ethernet cable and pay for your service monthly.
