both are wack ass boxers in my opinion. de la hoya has been out of it since trinidad knocked his ass out so bad he started singing on cds. i would suppose that "friendly" fernando vargas has the advantage cause hes younger and a lil more hyped up about this fight. either way, id love it if they both somehow lost.
Oscar keeps losing power as he moves up. Vargas has showed some ill effects from the Tito beating. Oscar has more in the skill department. Fernando has more heart. Oscar has put this fight off numerous times which makes some question if he really wants to fight him. I think he will be very cautious and move backward a lot using his jab and win a boring 12 round decision. Oscar has always shown good defense when he wants and a sturdy jaw. Vargas was floored by a weak hitting Rivera 2 fights ago.

So I guess he wasnt fighting for pride against Tito when it was billed as Puerto Rico vs. Mexico ? Oscar talks a good game but he doesnt have me fooled. He said he would never fight Vargas, then after Tito pounds Vargas now Oscar wants to fight him. Oscar said last year he was going to fight Tito,Shane & Vargas, to date he has not had any of those fights and its going on well over a year. Vargas is naturally bigger than OScar, and has been catching punches at 154 for years. If Fernando can take Oscars punch he could make this fight his. End of the day, I believe Oscar has to much skill to get into a war and thus will win the decision, and he will still con people into thinking he is a warrior.

Oscar has pulled out of the Vargas fight twice already. Never gave Sweet Pea or Quartey a rematch instead he gave a washed up Chavez a rematch, when he already beat him soundly. Said he would fight Mosley after he lost, but made a cd instead. Oscar has a great record and a lot of belts from many weight classes, but when it comes to fighting fighters at the top of their game all of his wins are controversial. To me his best fight was against Tito but he ran during the championship rounds and gave it away. I had Whittaker beating him and the Quartey fight a draw, if not for the knockdown in the 12th Oscar should have lost. Mosley beat him clearly. All of the other fights against Camacho,Chavez,Marguez,Gonzales were handpicked. Oscar has great skills, but to a lot of true boxing fans his heart and years of lies have tarnished what could have been one of the all time best fighting careers. Vargas is not as good a fighter as Oscar but I will say this, look at what Oscar did against Tito, ran when he thought he had it. Look at what Vargas did, he went out on his shield (back) instead of running he slugged it out and gave us all a great show.
De La hoya absouletly did more than Tito in their fight. Thats why I said that Oscar gave the fight away. It was a dissapointing fight all the way around. I scored it for Oscar and in my book he won clearly, but the manner in which he performed in the championship rounds was poor.
Bazooka Quartey had one of the best jabs I have ever seen. If he would have moved to the states and dedicated himself to Boxing he could have been an all time great. Every now and then people try to entice him back into the ring. The last offer that I know of came from Mosley's camp before the two Forrest fights.

my bad... when i said "de la hoya has been out of it since trinidad knocked his ass out so bad he started singing on cds." i didnt mean knock out cause trinidad didnt knock him out, but did beat him in that perticular fight. im reffering to the fight where de la hoya ran away from trinidad like a little bitch for the majority of the round until the final 10 seconds where he tried to make some quick points with a weak lil fury.
why is it that when DLH fights the kind of fight he did against tito every1 calls him a runner or not a warrior. he basically fought that fight the same way roy jones fights all his fights. also if Dela hoya was erased from that fight against tito and whittiker was put there every1 would say he did a masterful job in the last four rounds.

I am not a big Jones fan, but he does not run for entire rounds, and his movement is to create space. Oscar's movement was to coast and get away from Tito. As for the Whittaker statement, thats how Sweet Pea fought, but he would do enough going backwards to beat you, plus his defense was so good that while you are coming after him you dont land a thing, and he dots you with crisp counters and jabs all round, those were things Oscar did not do in the last rounds. Watch the Oscar/Whittaker fight, Pernell went backwards almost the entire fight but he out threw, landed, and percentaged Oscar in punches, plus he scored a knockdown and still lost the fight.
