I'll never understand his trading of top line pitching. So what happens...3 of the 6 new guys turn out to be great, but he'll trade them all in 2011 for more prospects?Stay at the 70-80 win mark?At some point you need to build a team around core players so they can gel.Haren's a beast, and trading him could be the right deal, but not if those guys are gone when they get good.Wierd situation in Oakland...Kids can't even have a fav player, cuz their gone in 3-4 years no matter what.God I hate how baseball works now.

Exactly. Beane is SOOOO damn over-rated. I've been saying that for years. What has "money ball" ever won? In fact, how many times have the A's even BEEN to the World Series under Beane?

its all about money in baseball...even if we did keep haren we wouldnt be able to pay him for to many more years...baseball sucks now its all about how many tickets you can sell.....bad teams usually stay bad.....good teams dominate.....and the ok teams stay ok......

Gaudin just had surgery, Duke is questionable for next year, Harden hasn't pitched a full season since 2004 and is still receiving treatment now... That means the A's only had Haren & Blanton set in the rotation next year... Two guys ain't gonna do it... The Angels are too good and the Mariners are getting better... Gotta rebuild, it ain't gonna happen next year or two anyway.
