This was a clean shoot. The cop gave that guy a lot of leeway though. If he was really going to knife that cop and if the cop was really scared it woulda happened like way earlier. The cop was trying too hard to 'do it by the book' and the body cam probably had a lot to do with it. Those extra seconds of hesitation could have gotten him killed easily.

Good police cant even do their jobs anymore without every action and word being second guessed, and you wonder why the force is now packed with automaton ex soldiers and the like. Expect the police to be more and more depersonalized and robotic and ruthless as the years go on

Its real easy to sit back and judge someone on their actions after watching the video a few times and your just relaxed kick back at your computer. Id bet anything 90% of you in that moment would of done the same shit that cop did. Trust me, I am not a guy who is quick to defend cops because I do believe they do alot of fucked up shit, but in this exact case I do feel the cop had every right to shoot that dude.

Cop repeatedly identified himself, ask the guy to come out and talk, asked him to put the knife down and to stop walking towards him. If I was that cop I would of shot that fuckin dude too. Like other guy said, now a days u dont know wtf people are on. If you are comin after me with a knife Im not wasting fuckin time shootin you in the leg im dropping your ass in the chest or head. Its me or you at that point, Im not gonna risk my life to try and save yours.

Props to everybody that gave an honest opinion on these issues... And didnt say the same exact shit everytime

Each different one of these threads are different situations and circumstances... But iff a cop did a drive-by on a old lady, no matter what we'd still get someone sayin "you never know she coulda had a gun in her purse"... Or if a a cop fired at a suspect who was actively punching a baby, we'd get "oviously punching a baby is a old muslim tradition, thats hella prejudice"... Because theyre either race trolling or they really are stubborn ass people that will argue a basic idea til death, no matter how rediculous it sounds when applied to a situation

The way that guy was walking looked like some shit you see in a 70's horror flick where they be hella possessed. With that said I'm not going on either side on this one, the cop gave him a chance most cops would of unloaded the whole clip as soon as they seen the "suspect." 5 shots is very excessive though, I would of popped the leg or arm.

Man accused of pointing gun at Mesa police
A man was arrested Saturday after he pointed a gun at police while intoxicated, Mesa police officials said Monday.

According to police, Robert Neilson, 49, was booked on two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement and one count of resisting arrest following a physical struggle with police.

Police approached Neilson’s home in the 2000 block of East Des Moines Street in search of a driver suspected of a hit-and-run near Stapley Drive and Southern Avenue. When police asked if the driver was there, Neilson pulled a handgun out of his waistband, pointed it at police, and said, “Do you want this?” police said.

Officers then grabbed the gun and tackled Neilson. Neilson was taken into custody and treated at Banner Desert hospital for his injuries, police said.

One officer suffered minor injuries to his knee in the struggle.
