As far as his album, it seems that he's afraid to release it because he doesn't want it to be a let down after all these years... If it is a let down then people will write him off as opposed to saying "he needs to come with an album" and always have some sort of anticipation around him. if that's the case, and I don't see how it can be anything else, he needs to just ante up any sort of album and build on it.. he's gonna have nobody listening if he doesn't drop it soon.

All those mixtapes he keeps dropping should just be dropped as albums. He had a buzz but lost it (Death Row), then got it again and lost it (HHW and single with Akon), and is getting another one with Slaughterhouse. He needs to take advantage of these. I know his main reason for not putting an actual album out is because he wants it to be the best it can be but he needs to face it, it's almost impossible to drop a 100% complete classic. His fans are gonna enjoy it regardless.

Here's the low:

California rapper Crooked I was not shot last week, after weekend rumors ran rampant that the rapper was wounded or killed.

The Long Beach, CA artist was involved in an altercation, but did not endure a physical blow from gunfire.

“My client was not physically shot last week. Crooked I was involved in a situation, but was not physically harmed,” a representative for Crooked I told AllHipHop.com exclusively.

Over the weekend, rumors virally spread that Crooked I had been the victim of a shooting, according to several sources.

Crooked I was vague in an interview with vladtv.com.

"Some crazy s**t just went on. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Right now I'm just trying to get to the bottom of it," Crooked said. "Physically, I'm good, but mentally, I'm kind of in a f**ked up place."

Rapper G. Malone wrote about the incident with Crooked I, but stopped shy of confirming that gunfire struck his peer.

"Something happened ... which they ain't explaining, but Crooked is ok. He is at his home in fine condition," G. Malone said on his Twitter page. "Once again, I'm not saying Crooked did or didn't get shot, n***as don't know. I'm just saying he isn't dead nor is he dying. Someone had media saying he was fatally wounded. That's not true."

The rumors and speculation surrounding Crooked I had his friends and family extremely concerned. His Myspace page was inundated with comments.

The 28-year-old rapper, born Dominic Wickliffe, is currently in the studio recording an as-yet-untitled independent project that will likely be released early next year.

It is comfirmed. I was with Crooked a short while ago and he WAS NOT shot. So please let people know to put the rumors to rest. He is alive and well and injury free. He's mad shit has to go down the way it does but he is free of injury. Thank you everyone.

The Internet went wild with rumors this weekend as news of Crooked I getting shot or hurt badly abound.

Sources varied, some saying the west coast emcee was critically injured, or even dead. Rapper Glasses Malone confirmed some situation, but did not elaborate, via his Twitter page: "Something happened ... which they ain't explaining, but Crookedis ok. He is at his home in fine condition," the update said.

Crooked I finally addressed the issue by calling in to DJ Vlad of VladTV.com, updating everyone on his condition.

"I'm good. Physically, I'm good. I'm kinda in a fucked place right now. But physically, I'm good," he said, indicating that there was some sort of incident, but providing no details.

DJ Vlad asked the rapper if he wanted to elaborate on the situation, to whichCrooked simply replied, "Some crazy shit just went on. I was just at the wrong place, wrong time type of shit. Right now, I'm just trying to get to the bottom of it because when shit like that pops off, it's kinda better to just leave it where it happens, you know?

"I'm good. I'm straight. I don't want nobody getting no fame off of nothing, bringing negativity towards me. I'm good," he concluded.

I can't really feel that though... that's just the state of the music industry and it's that way for everyone. You're telling me it takes over 10 years to drop an album? 10 years??

I appreciate the free music but... If he would have dropped 6 years ago he would have at least sold 100,000 off of buzz alone. Now people don't really buy albums, but if he would have dropped years ago when people did buy albums, they would have copped his and he'd have more buzz these days. Just my opinion...
