Can anyone name a CLASSIC film that has been re-made that was actually better than the movie we all know as a CLASSIC?

My contention being there is NEVER a re-make of a classic film that is superior to the original. And generally most re-makes of normal movies, not even classics, fail to surpass the original’s quality.

How many people other than the aspiring Deadpool fan club member, PHX Sun, attend movies because of box office numbers? Don’t most people attend movies for entertainment not just as an attempt to fit in and appear normal?
