CHARGERS VS. COLTS

Well, Chambers and Jackson should definitely be able to do damage vs. that Cover2 Defense. It's not that hard to beat a Cover2 zone defense, especially up the middle if you force those safeties to split out. And if Gates is ready to play, he's such a force over the middle or atleast a threat which the defense has to watch. Chambers and Jackson are big enough to leap infront of those safeties. Yeah the Colts have Bob Sanders, but I don't see him making plays when it's one on one downfield on either Jackson or Chambers, unless Rivers under throws it then he'll probably jump the route.
The Titans actually played a lot of Cover2 zone and Rivers was able to fit the ball in tightly between the defenders, so he's capable. There was a lot of nice throws yesterday that Rivers made vs. a Cover2. He has enough zip to fit it in the creases of the zone.
The Colts will probably play a lot more Cover3 though because of the run threat SD possesses. Their going to have to use 8 in the box.
The only thing that worries me about the Colts is their pass rush. If SD is going to do anything, their going to have to use a lot of 7 or 8 man protections. So basically Chambers, Jackson and Gates are really going to have to step up because they'll probably be the only ones going out on pass routes. Then occasionally LT will probably leak out to the flats after blocking. That's how it was yesterday vs. the Titans in the second half, basically only Jackson and Chambers were going out on pass routes and everyone else blocking. I did work nicely though. Maybe they'll incorporate a lot of screen passes to LT as well, which is another good way to beat zone.
