The Yankees have extended a five-year contract offer to A.J. Burnett, according to a report on ESPN.com.

The report did not state the total amount of the offer, but agent Darek Braunecker is believed to be seeking something around the $91.5 million the Cubs' Carlos Zambrano received over the same length of contract. The report said a decision from Burnett, also pursued by the Braves and Red Sox, could come as soon as Thursday.

of course they do, the MLBPA urged CC to take it. whats so greedy about it? if they want to pay him that much, thats on them, they obviously have the money. u cant blame one player, im mean literally "dont hate the player hate the game" (or no salary cap, whichever u prefer). and yeah Jay-Z get your money but if ur a ballplayer and getting paid fuck you.

whats funny is the yankees GM flew out to Frisco to make this deal happen.. had he not done that i think CC mightve signed with the Giants. And the GM basically threw in the 3 year opt out into the contract, which i dont see CC staying there for the length of his whole contract.

But im not bitter about this.. we still have a great pitching staff and prospects coming up that are cheaper than CC.

Maybe he can join the giants in like 3 years (hopefully taking a hometown discount paycut) when we have all the missing pieces filled in.
