Contribution to the Siccness. Forums like NW Siccness are the outlets to sincere questions like these. This is not a trick to promote our music. We also recently got new equipment to "micks n maztur" better, a product of the noise we been making. (There is a correlation between being more accomplished/having more money and having better looking and sounding stuff) If you wish to only listen to artists with the best sounding material, that's your decision, for groups like us at the end of the day it's only an mp3 now. Many of the people I respect in the northwest (Audio: Sandpeople) (Video: Blue Scholars) got that way from using equipment "in-house". They make consumer/prosumer equipment for a reason, if not, we're kidding ourselves when we go to places like Guitar Center, etc;.. If you look back to our last contributing thread (Is it realistic to make a living as a northwest rap artist?) it got over 1000 views, our music/video are only seen on the very top of the first page. and we don't care for numbers. The point is it gets people talking, or in this case "typing" that normally never wouldn't, like you and me. (we ARE underground...) If you wish for me to shamelessly promote my music that sounds like a Hyena giving birth from its outside sack. (yet, has better concepts, lyrics, heart, etc than 99% of the rap game)...check out.

Don't be confused by the mp3s and compressed youtube videos you see and hear. We do go to REAL studios and we do use REAL engineers when we want, but we're so versatile that we let our "in-house" production get their shine, go to their studios, let them make us music videos (Golden Brown), let them do our art, because we network well. I don't know if you know anything about music production, but first it's mixed by a competent engineer, later it may be sent to a good mastering house. That's the way we go about it, everyone does it different. If you want to hear the super crisp shit, that's why you buy it on CDbaby, Amazon, or other distributors we use. Its nothing against you, (I usually stand back and let people talk shit) I just can't let people get confused.

If you want to see us in a studio (you can see the REAL engineer too), check out this video from 2 years ago from Whikid at Pacific Studios.

....

I think the northwest talent is here already. This last year I have heard some good albums and ive heard a few mixtapes of some rappers who im really intrested to hear how it comes out when they do an album. It is a few artists who have a good mindset and mentaility but their music is not quite there yet. This region needs more outlets and REAL supporters also!I think the other thing that needs to be done is more quality shows. I used to hit alot of shows years ago and stopped but I have been hitting more of them lately and I have not seen much of any change. I see some artists continually getting shows who have not had a cd out in years? Some artists doing 10 shows a month but the venues are not of quality? The crowd is nonexsistent. I mean if you like performing for your friends and family put on a talent show at your house. I understand the doing more shows gets your stage presensce better but at the same time if your doing the same show 10 times a month who is going to want to keep coming to see you?

Ill admit some people do put on a very good show but some peoples shows are just plain terrible. It all goes back to artists working together, they need to stop butting heads and promote a good show and perform a good show. Stop doing the same shows with the same artists, diversify yourself. The northwest does not need to be like any other region they need to build themselves up and show what hard work really can do. Have their own story and their own era to look back on.

Also some people just need to shift focus if they want to be in the music business. Truthfully some artists do not have what it takes and it should be evident dont keep spending needless $ on something that is not going to happen. Be a realist some people just do not have the talent level to even call themselves a rapper or a producer. At the same time you could be good at something else, you might have a natural nack to talk to people if so consider being a promoter? Maybe join a team of artists who have the talent but have no team. Maybe you dope with pro tools and mixing? Considering enginering and recording for artists. The music business is evening itself out finally after all these years which is the perfect time for a region to make some noise. Artists are not getting distribution like they used to because the companies are finally realizing its no use because its a loss. You dont see 10 rap albums dropping every Tuesday, thats cut in half and im sure over the next few years it will be to the point where it used to be maybe a few rap albums a month coming out. That is what is needed the consumer cant purchase every artists album, plus think quality over quantity if you do one dope album with a few hit songs you could thrive off that for awhile.

We need to network out here more. Alot of nw rappers are lazy and don't have the hustle like bay cats. I hate to admit it but there's alot of wasted talent out here due 2 that fact.So many of my peeps have slapperz that ain't no 1 heard. I just hope 2 c all you'll @ the westcoast hiphop awards show. I'm really thinkin bout gettin every1 together 2 drop a super NW compiltaion like p did the westcoastbadboyz bacc n the day....
