There definitely was a motive behind the pictures. Originally printed in a right-wing anti-immigrant newspaper in Denmark, Jyllands-Posten, which were deliberately trying to provoke Muslim violence to further strengthen their (racist) beliefs.

I read an article that said the newspaper is linked politically to an anti-immigrant Danish Party that is “opposed to a multi-cultural approach to the growing immigrant population in Denmark and has declared that it is impossible to assimilate Muslims into Danish society.” link

Further, in April of 2005 Queen Margrethe II of Denmark stated, “We are being challenged by Islam these years—globally as well as locally. It is a challenge we have to take seriously… We have to show our opposition to Islam and we have to, at times, run the risk of having unflattering labels placed on us because there are some things for which we should display no tolerance.”

And for those that say the newspaper is simply demonstrating Freedom of Speech, about three years ago the newspaper had refused to publish satirical cartoons on Jesus Christ submitted by Danish illustrator Christoffer Zieler, because these were considered “offensive, not funny.” The editor told Christoffer Zieler, “I don’t think Jyllands-Posten’s readers will enjoy the drawings. As a matter of fact, I think that they will provoke an outcry. Therefore, I will not use them.

That shit is HELLA funny....But if someone did some shit about the Christian god, I'm sure people would make a stink too. This is just another stupid fuckin thing that the media wants to cover cause in all honestly, something else more important is going on and people aren't supposed to hear about it from the mass media. And most won't look into anything cause our country is full of ignorant people.

With all the 9/11 anti-muslim shit, no wonder they got mad though. Most of these people dont' support terrorism and the US seems to make out that ALL of them are, they're bein put through some shit. How many people would have a cow if someone made fun of Jesus Christ on a national level? MILLIONS of Americans would have a fuckin cow, when in all reality it's not any more important than what I eat for breakfast.

You should learn the difference between STINK and RIOTING. When the ten commandment stone was removed did christians go on a rampage and start fires? No. When you see fish symbols with darwin in the middle do you see christians running the cars off the road? No. Jesus pictures HAVE been printed, and you DONT see christians going around, blowing shit up, making terrorist threats and starting hella fires.

Abortion clinic bombings, the KKK, The Order, Neo Nazi's, etc. are all Christian inspired and Christian extremists.

Were the majority of Muslims protesting the cartoons? No. Were a small minority? Yes. Did the majority of Christian Amerikans send death threats to Terry Schiavo's husband and Judge George Greer? No. Did a minority? Yes. Do the majority of Christians assault gays? No. Do a minority? Yes.

Point is that there are extremes on both sides HERESY, you know this.

BTW, I'm quite positive that a Christian nearly hit my car on the road because of my Evolution Fish fucking a Jesus Fish doggystyle that I have on the back of my car. Christians can be quite violent and if you know your history, you'll know that Christians have one of the most violent pasts known to mankind (think Hitler, crusades, etc.).

Also, if the tables were turned and let's say the mid-east as a whole was the worlds only superpower and they oppressed the world, perhaps it would be the christians burning down embassies.

also remember that the situation we are in, that bush or the global elite are tryin to do, to have the world support the war on terrorism by portraying muslims to be terrorist and not terrorists to be terrorists

but i mean the whole worlds gonna hate muslims and muslims hate the whole world because of their religion
weird how it all fits together

i look at google news today n i see
"
(AP) The Bush administration will "walk a fine line" in seeking punitive international sanctions against Iran's Islamic government over its disputed nuclear program, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Wednesday"

so why mention "Irans ISLAMIC government" when ISLAM has nothing to do with it?

they tryin to stick terrorism with islam in the readers minds
this is about iran building "nukes"

i know u knew this already tho
but i dont think the riots n shit are gonna end anytime soon
the muslims are FOR SURE gonna want to show the world how serious they are about their religion
and the world is gonna keep "kickstartin" the muslims into anger

lol i can just see how the rest of this year is gonna go

Comrade, these have NOTHING to do with christians being motivated to commit harms and crimes based on images.

BTW, I'm quite positive that a Christian nearly hit my car on the road because of my Evolution Fish fucking a Jesus Fish doggystyle that I have on the back of my car. How are you quite positive it as a christian who nearly hit you? I know "christians" have a violent past, but your two examples don't fit. Those in charge of the Crusades were actually PAGAN and OCCULTISTS and Hitler was an Occultist.

Also, if the tables were turned and let's say the mid-east as a whole was the worlds only superpower and they oppressed the world, perhaps it would be the christians burning down embassies.
But, the worlds only superpower did not create these images.

My point is, you don't see christians rioting and blowing shit up because sacrilegious images.

@surcaliman,

It was Christian inspired. Twisted as it may be, christian nonetheless. Just as the Muslim extremists kill in the name of Allah, there are christians who kill in the name of Jesus or God.

Why do Christian extremists blow up abortion clinics? Because they believe it is wrong, according to their christian beliefs. Why do Muslim extremists blow up shit after a cartoon? Because they believe "insulting" or drawing Allah is wrong, according to their Muslim beliefs.

The KKK is a Christian organization.

From the KKK's website:

"The Ku Klux Klan is a US Supreme Court recognized and protected Christian Organization in multiple Supreme Court decisions, and has received a Charter from US Congress."

Hitler was a Christian fanatic.

"Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord." Mein Kampf, HITLER

"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter." - HITLER

Of cousre I do not believe that the majority of christians feel this way, nor do I feel all Muslims feel the need for violence, which is my entire point.

Yes, actually it does. My point is that there are extremists on both sides. What you see in the corporate media is a small minority organized by the religious fanatics/extremists.

How are you quite positive it as a christian who nearly hit you?
Because after he nearly hit me and led to me nearly crashing my car, I followed the punk ass and dude had a Jesus fish, “Support the troops” and "God is awesome" bumper stickers on his car. Perhaps he was an Atheist driving a christians car, but that seems very unlikely. When this incident happened to me, the Evolution fish fucking the Jesus fish was the only thing I had on the back of my car.

Plus, if you'd like, I can post dozens of links of Christian violence and vandalization of "non-believers" cars and other property based on "blasphemous" images, emblems, bumper stickers, etc.

I know "christians" have a violent past, but your two examples don't fit. Those in charge of the Crusades were actually PAGAN and OCCULTISTS and Hitler was an Occultist.
Ha, ok comrade. I can quote Hitler for days regarding his christian beliefs. Distorted and psychotic as it may have been, christian nonetheless. Even if I throw out these two examples, I can give more examples, like the KKK, Brotherhood, Christian terrorist groups, etc.

But, the worlds only superpower did not create these images.
It has been revealed that Flemming Rose, the cultural editor of Jyllands-Posten, maintains close contacts with the USA. Thus, the whole episode of publication of these ugly cartoons was very well calculated under the present global context.

It’s clear as day the cartoons were released for the sole purpose of prompting a violent reaction

My point is, you don't see christians rioting and blowing shit up because sacrilegious images.
Not currently in Amerika, no. But they have bombed, assassinated, vandalized, harassed, threatened, kidnapped, etc. all in the name of their Christian god.

Another factor you must consider is the current Arab/Muslim relations with the Western world. These cartoons are just one of MANY, MANY incidents that have caused them to react negatively. If lets say that they had a good relation with the US and the rest of the west (no occupiers of Iraq, Afghanistan, the pimping of their resources, and their standard of living was high) it’s very unlikely you would see these kinds of riots.
