so is the only way to get some of these guns is buying them with CoDpoints?
as you rank up you will unlock different guns for purchase, then you purchase them with your COD points

e.g. you rank up to level 10 and unlock two SMGs and two assault rifles, then you choose which ones you want to spend the points on

there are certain things you can only unlock by ranking up e.g. some emblems

also each class of weapon has a classified weapon which is only revealed and unlocked by first buying all other weapons in that class

How Do Call of Duty: Black Ops COD Points Work?

COD Points
You still unlock items, abilities, and customization options through leveling up. You’re still gaining experience, but you’re also earning COD Points at the same time. Let’s use specific examples to see how this works. For perks, when you reach level 4, all perks become available for purchase. When you unlock Killstreaks at level 10, they all become available for purchase. And when you unlock great new features such as Custom Reticles, they become available for purchase for all guns. This lets you purchase what you want, when you want it. Just make sure you have the money.

Can’t wait to throw on an ACOG Sight on that new Commando assault rifle you just purchased? No interest in the Red Dot Sight? Skip right over it. No need to grind for kills. Save up your money and purchase the ACOG Sight instead. Can’t wait to demolish your enemies with the RC Car killstreak? Make it your first purchase after unlocking killstreaks.

This is just a sample of the options you can explore and purchase, but we’re not giving away all of our secrets just yet.

The game has a reporting system. Report boosters and let's make examples of them. Once you lay the ban hammer on enough bad people word will get around that we don't take too kindly to this sort of thing.

I don't like this at all! I checked my gamer rep and like 87% avoided me and i know muthafuckas put down cheating as the reason even tho i was getting legit nukes cuz they was on some hater shit! So how is treyarch gonna tell the difference between somebody actually boosting and someone who is just that good that muthafuckas wanna make false accusations??

FUCK YOU
for the PC user you gotta pay for the dedicated servers

http://pc.ign.com/articles/111/1119736p1.html

Call of Duty: Black Ops for PC will ship with dedicated server support this November, but there's a catch if you want to run your own server.

Activision and Treyarch studios announced GameServers.com will be the exclusive dedicated server provider when the game launches.

"We are extremely excited about this unprecedented relationship with Activision to offer dedicated servers exclusively for Black Ops", said GameServers CEO David Aninowsky. "We are placing a great amount of pressure on ourselves to ensure that we exceed any and all expectations."

According to GameServers' pre-order page, ranked servers will cost $14.95 a month for an 18 max player limit. Discounts are offered for monthly prepays. Unranked servers will cost $0.99 a month per player up to maximum of 24. Teamspeak support will have an additional fee. Discounts will be offered for a 3, 6, and 12 month prepay.

Treyarch Community Manager Josh Olin said this partnership will provide high-quality private servers at an affordable rate for the game and re-emphasized Treyarch-hosted dedicated servers will remain free.

"If players want to run a dedicated Ranked or Unranked server on the PC, they will have to rent one through GameServers," Olin told IGN. "Treyarch will be providing a fleet of 'Day-1 Servers' (through GameServers) which will be up and operational on November 9th.

"Nobody will have to rent a dedicated server through GameServers in order to play the game," says Olin. "But for anybody who wants to run their own server, it will be run from GameServers.com."

Olin added that this partnership adds the advantage of much more effective anti-cheating and hacking moderation.

"If you rent a server, you will still have the ability to Kick, Ban, and Configure it the way you see fit," Olin added. "Of course Ranked servers will have some set configurations that can't be messed with; but you will still have the power to administrate your servers as a customer of GameServers."

Call of Duty: Black Ops ships for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on November 9.

Scavenger does not refill; most expensive attachment ( noob tube ); can't be used with Warlord (aka Bling in MW2) -Vahn.

This is decent news, while it has been known that Scavenger does not refill claymores and noob tubes, the fact that you cannot use noob tube with warlord is a step in the right direction, however most people will just use the china lake noob tube launcher as there secondary so really what does this fix???

I assume they think this will cut down on noob tube spam, and yeah maybe to a point it will, but you still have the china lake and you can still use the tube by itself.

Hopefully with no danger close perk the spam will be cut down...

A special limited edition "laser cel" - limited to 100,000; we said nothing about it being "rare" - is one of two pre-order bonuses for Call of Duty: Black Ops. The other's a download code for an avatar item.

Pre-ordering through Amazon gets you the laser cel, provided you're among the first 100,000 to do so, beginning today. You'll also get a link to a desktop wallpaper featuring that image.

Pre-ordering through GameStop bags the "high-altitude flight suit avatar." Since neither console was specified, we assume this is valid for both Xbox Live avatars and PlayStation Home avatars. You can get a look at what that's all about in this video, posted a week ago.

Call of Duty: Black Ops releases Nov. 9
