KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police are investigating whether the fatal shooting of a Utah woman might be connected to the slaying of Kansas City rappers.
Lee Danae Laursen was shot to death Nov. 4 in Fairfield, Calif.
Investigators believe Laursen was slain either because of her involvement with prostitution or because she got caught up in a feud among rappers.
Two Kansas City rappers -- 24-year-old Anthony "Fat Tone" Watkins and his friend, 22-year-old Jermaine "Cowboy" Akins -- were slain in Las Vegas in May. A suspect in the case was involved with the Utah woman, officials said.
Police had warned Laursen that the pimps and would-be rappers she associated with were dangerous and they offered her money to return to Utah, The Salt Lake Tribune reported. Laursen had refused the offer.
