I'm talking about unight on certain styles! Seattle has hip hoppers gangster rappers and som weird inbetween shit but everything seems to be tooken from other areas with only a slight twist. I think we can never support eachothers work right when we dont feel eachothers work. Seattle is to spread out in term of what we like! I give props to cats like skunt for having his own style that grows on you not off you! (my opinion of course) when I am in the bay there is always people who like difforent shit but there is way more people on the same page you have black white asian mexican samoan and every other race bumping the same style shit and supporting their town. How can we grow and support eachother when we just really don't like another persons music?

I want to see Seattle on Music video's cuzz the history of the town is in me! who reps that and tells that story that relates to me and my experinces best. and is creative and sounds right and so I can hear the real in there voice!

My problem is many not all by any means of these gangster rappers sound like shit no matter how real they are!

or there flow is nice but I can tell cuzz i see them out and about and in there music I can hear it.

there definetly is exceptions who do you see as being a great hope for the town. And why should we be behind them?

But you're right. We don't have an original sound and thats why we won't see any seattle groups blowing up. Seattles hip hop music scene has barely developed. Its mostly watered down gangsta rap and cheap knockoffs of bay area sounds. Don't get me wrong, they're is mad talent around these parts, but little originality.

I just heard this guy Ravenous I guess hes from the town. Hes different than the rest, his voice and flow isn't up to par yet but his lyrics show alot of potential. We need more HIP HOP heads in this town, people need to get off the G-Rap tip if it ain't them.

The reason is very very very simple, and it's very harsh reality for the folks in the NW b/c it's something they have ZERO control over, it is just the way it is.

WHO MAKES THE MUSIC? Black people (you can waste time pointing out the exceptions if you would like but that is a futile effort, this basic truth remains)

California - 2.23 million black people
Houston - 494,000 black people
New York - 3.10 million black people
Atlanta metro - 400,000 black people
Seattle & Tacoma combined - 68,000 black people

It is not complicated. Relative to the places that are producing rap music, we are small and we are white, the largest non-white group we have is the group that doesn't make rap music (again, waste time pointing out the exceptions, but there's been no Asian rapper to make it big like people here are talking "big").

The demographics of the Seattle area are just not good for the exporting of rap music.

I'm a fan of 151, Bad Luk is cool from what I've heard- he put it down live when I was in the town one night.. it was a cool show..

But as for distribution being the key.. you can have distribution all day but you have to generate the demand first.... its the business behind the music that makes it successful..

I know and I know. The who buys the albums question is irrelevent as to who the actual artists are, and your second point proves my point even more. If there's only so much room (Eminem, ....not much more) in the rap game for white folks and most of the rappers out here are white then that exponentially decreases our people's odds. It's like everybody out here is going for 1 or 2 spots out of 100 (when even the odds of going for 98 spots out of 100 are slim). NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

As for the black dudes that are from here rapping, they're hurt immensely by where they're from.

People, don't worry about our guys blowing up, it is not going to happen, just appreciate the great music some of them make and be thankful you found them. This is the realization I've come to, it's less depressing than the COLD HARD FACTS.

Too small and too white. You don't go to Nigeria looking for Chinese food....
