I made this page to basically show off and show how diverse I am as a producer/composer. THE FIRST TWO BEATS ARE FROM MY ALBUM AND THE ALBUM *IS* DONE. I'm waiting to finish up 3 more albums and we will drop this MACK HAND shit all at once. The LAST track is on the FUNK ON SITE TWO COMPILATION. I had 2 beats on that comp. I might do something on angel torture and add that as a bonus track. I thought about posting the shit I was gonna use to back up my $5,000 if someone had taken me on my offer. However I won't do that. I'll keep those for the big pay day when it comes.

Angel torture and pelican bay are all motif es. I have a pelican bay version im working on with roland sounds also. Evereything else is pretty much roland. I didnt use the mp-7, proteus 2000 or virtuoso on any of the tracks. I should have posted some of those but its all good.

ALL guitars are by SHAD THE MAGIK MAN and SPITBALL. live drums are courtesy of NATE THE GREAT and SPITBALL. All bass, drum and guitar loop programming was done by me. What that means is that shit was played and i comped bits and pieces together to form my own bass line, guitars and drum patterns (lil lamb is an example).. SATANIC VERSES IS LIVE THROUGH OUT THE SONG. The guitars in lil lamb do some crazy shit at the end of the song.

ANYWAY HIT THE SITE AND STREAM THE MUSIC IN ***LO-FI***. YOU *MUST* STREAM IT IN LO-FI BECAUSE THE HI FI SHIT HASNT BEEN APPROVED YET.

Heresy. I dident even think about asking you about some beats cause i was under the influence that all you did was metal/rap type of stuff. I liked both the sounthern cali beat and the clun knock. Get at me on the pm with some prices. Choosing a producer is a whole lot harder then i thought it would be. There are a whole lot of producers that i wanna fuck with but at the same time i have to always be mindfull of wether or not that producer is going to help me push enough albums to get back what i paid him or her. Does anyone else have this problem? The only one i know for sure at this point that i am going to try my hardest to get a beat from is Bosko. The rest is still dependent on if i can afford them or not. Dont get me wrong. I have put quite a bit back for bith a production budget and a marketing and promotion budget. But both of those are quick to drain with very little results if bad desicions are made. any advice would be helpfull

@3vid3nc3 good looking out pimp. I love the cinematic type tracks because I can really push the envelope with what im trying to do.

@Painloc clear out your private message box.

Yes I go through the SAME thing you go through but I go through it with artist and labels. A lot of times indie labels and artist are only pressing up 1000 copies so I tend to NOT sell tracks to them. If the person has a small budget but we VIBE I'll shoot em tracks for a player price. IF the person has a small budget and they come TIGHT I will hook them up. I wont allow myself to be raped nor will I slang tracks for pennies.

At the end of the day I can crank beats out and I'll work within a persons budget but there is a draw back. That person may not push enough units for MY work to be heard. That person may not have enough money to get over 5000 printed, marketed and promoted. So here I am slanging a beat to someone for cheap when I should and COULD have sold it for a grip. So yeah I know what you mean only in my case I need TIGHT rappers over the tracks. I need to make sure the label or artist is pushing units so I can get more clients and broaden my target audience.

If I were you I wouldnt really look at the producer and if he or she can help you recoup. I would look at the producer and see if he or she can help you come with a TIGHT product. If you plan to implement big names in your marketing and promotions plan I understand your point. You will want the best producers who you can find because your going to market and promote
"PRODUCTION BY XYZ". If the product is there thats all that matters. If you have tight beats but "CAN" lyrics it's going to get tossed in the trash CAN sooner or later. Cohesive product thats what I would look for regardless of who did the tracks. Instead of just buying beats from producers/composers (MYSELF INCLUDED) you should think about HOW you want YOUR project to sound. What do you want YOUR tracks to do? What type of vibe are you looking for? Are you looking to make a demented type of album? If so are the tracks really evil/horror sounding or do they sound almost evil? Are you looking to make a rhythmic/dance/ass shaking album? If so does the music make you wanna dance or doze off? Put YOURSELF in the PRODUCERS shoes (producers *DON'T* have to make beats/music to be labeled "producer") and start looking at it from the producers perspective. What type of vibe am I going for? Who is my target audience/demographic? Would the album sound good with live drum and bass? Would the album slap if it was all done on one machine? Would the album sound good with 3 different singers on 2 tracks? Do this BEFORE you buy your first track for the project. You DON'T wanna cash out all these people only to find out your lyrics really DON'T match the music.

:hgk:

Heresy. My pm is cleared out. I know what your sayin. I Think my problem is that i have lost touch with what the people in my area are in to. I have for to long lived in my own world of what i liked and i have not been paying enough attention to what other people are listining to. I need to get back in touch with what the "public" thinks is hot. I am friends with a lady who ownes a small mom and pop shop. I need to go and talk to her and see what people are buying and then listen to it myself. I know as a business man i can put together and sell any type of music the fans want. But as a artist i dont know that i can do that. If my heart aint into the music it will show through. So either way the business is going to be cool. And i will be succesfull. But as a artist i may have to just let it rest. And that is what i was talking about in my last post. As a artist i would swoop a couple D-sane beats and a DJ mark 7 beat and a beat or two from you and the album would be filled with guest artists that almost no one from my town has ever even listened to. But on the business side of it i just cant do it. But fuck it. If i gotta make a club album. I will. And thats the type of beat's i will be buying. Thanks for the advice

@BIGCHILL good looking out man. I'm glad you liked the tracks.

@PAINLOC as an artist you should express yourself and rap/perform material that suits YOU. When you listed the tracks you were feeling right off the bat I thought rhythmic/dance/ass shaking/club/party type of tracks is what he needs. Thats the vibe he is going for. You need the up tempo shit thats going to make the people dance not tracks that are going to make people commit suicide. Do whats BEST for YOUR project and the sound you are striving for. Shit if I had to go back in, recut tracks, omit tracks from my line up and keep refining, refining, refining until I got it right you should do the same thing. You may have a hard time doing this because you DO have a budget and EVERY dollar counts.

I wouldnt buy tracks from anyone (MYSELF INCLUDED) and just put anyone on it just for the sake of making an album. DON'T SETTLE FOR LESS. If this is your first album set the bar for yourself. If you DON'T want to do a club album DON'T do it. I won't do a club album because thats NOT my style of music and its NOT my target audience. Can I make the tracks? Yep. Will I rap over them? Nope. Can I rap over them? Yep.

Do you have a concept for your album? Besides how you want the music (the beats) to sound do you have a concept? Like overall what do you want the project to say? Start asking yourself these questions so you WONT just say "fuck it" and make a rap album that the people don't want.

holla man.

The overall concept of this album is hard to pinpoint. The album is intended to showcase my artists. But i have gangster shit, r and b shit, club shit and even one guy who sounds very east coast. I would say that i am leaning tword the album having a more club/crunk type of feel to it. Because thats what is selling. If i could get some beats that are clubish but yet still gangsta i would have it. Like how C-Bo's newer shit gets play in the club and gets the bitches on the floor but still keeps it gangsta. The song "We Thug It" off the westcoast mafgia album is a perfect example of the type of beats i need. Thats why i wanna holla at bosko so bad.

and i wonder why Sick didnt take that offer?
What offer or are you referring to Heresy's beat-battle competition? That's simple, I wouldn't have anything to gain. It's not my intent to offend anyone by saying this but it would be an embarassment if people found out I participated in something like that.

If he could put one together where the pot is significant and there is some real prestige in the competition then it might be worth considering. That will never happen though because it's unprofessional.

You want to know what people are listening to today but you also want to have a vision for tomorrow. What you don't want is to do an album that would have been hot a year ago. Since it takes time to record an album, set it up and then put it out, you always want to stay a couple steps ahead musicially so that doesn't happen.

If you make songs that are on par with what's hot today, they'll be outdated by the time you can get them out there.

Sick wit It,
Thats very true. With the first couple albums i'm gonna want to stick with what i know sells on a constant basis and in my area that is both gangsta shit and club shit. You always wanna be a couple steps ahead but i think it is very risky trying to be too ground breaking on the first couple of albums. You want to get your company and your artists on solid ground first. I think what needs to happen that alot of indie labels are neglecting is the A&R work that has to be put into each artst. Or at least that is a problem i see in my area.

Don't let your arrogance fool you, you're not in a position to 'call me out' or challenge me in any way. I wrote a reply to that long-winded shit you posted. Then I realized what you really need is pity, not to get smashed on so tough.

If the day ever comes that you are one of my peers, we can bring this conversation back to life. In the meantime, I'm going to continue to give advice and honest opinions to the people who ask for it, regardless of how much whining you do.

If you wont even post your own music or say who you are, how is anyone to know who is on who's level?
